Hi Folks

Have heard about Tabata and wondered if this was something I could build into "my getting ready for work" routine. It appeals as its 4 mins long and I kinda feel I should be able to squeeze 10 mins (5 min warm up + tabata) into my hectic morning routine?!

However I have some questions!

* Should Tabata be used as part of a longer workout or can it be used in issolation as I am intending it to be?

* Am I right in thinking I need to pick exercises that engage most of the body and are pretty anerobic?

* Can I do this most mornings? (I normally factor in one rest day a week from exercise!!)

* How knackered should I feel after it!!!!

Would welcome any advice and any testimonials! Also any recomendations on exercises to include in a Tabata workout.

Thank you GUYS :-)

My PT has me do them as part of my weight training program and I also do them as part of my cardio as an alternative to long boring ill-effective steady state cardio. On the treadmill I warm up for 4 mins then crank the treadmill up to my maximum sprint speed then sprint for 20 seconds and then, leaving the treadmill running jump off for 10 seconds and repeat 8 times.

The idea is that whether you're doing it with weights or on the treadmill you should be working at your maximum capacity and by the end you should feel as though you couldn't possibly do another round - if you don't feel like that you're not working hard enough.

I put in the treadmill tababtas before or after my weight training on some days and I always do them before any general fitness classes I do at the gym

Feel free to message me if you need more info but FYI, I did them last year as part of my training and they helped to get me down to my lowest weight and body fat ever!!!!

Most of their workouts are in interval-training style. Many are less than 12 minutes long.
Exercising 10 minutes before work is great, but I'd recommend doing more exercise in a day when you can.

Thanks Sunshine - I knew you'd be able to help :-)

Dragonbug300 - this would be in addition to my usual workouts, Zumba, Jogging/plodding (lol) Body pump Body combat ect. Just wanted to get something in first thing in the morning and this sounded ideal! (???)
