Hi Guys,

I've noticed that since i've been eating healthier everytime I eat something, whether its a little or a lot my belly area expands and my clothes get tighter (if I am wearing something snug).

Its so annoying, because I keep bloating - why does this happen?

Does anyone else feel like this?

I have found that constantly having water is really helping my bloating. I always have a bottle on me and get about 12-15 cups in a day! Also - reduce your sodium right down, I hardly have any sodium now, it seems to be helping.

This happens to me after every meal, too. At the end of the day, I'm a full pants size or more bigger around, but then in the morning it all goes back to normal. I can't wear any cute clothes at night cause my stomach's so big :P Drinking alot too.

i have the same thing ,sometimes looks like the beginings of pregnancy ,very annoying & before you eat its flat ,i thought maybe it was to do with needing to build up the stomach muscles more, i assumed that because the muscles there are not fantastic maybe its not holding it back after i eat , will try helenas suggestion & see if that works .

Healthier foods tend to have more fiber and can cause temporary bloating. Beano was invented to prevent the gas associated with bean and vegetable consumption. Broccoli makes me gassy...
More water can help as well.

All in all I say just ignore it unless it is painful gas, it's not fat, or weight gain, its temporary bloating from the fermenting of the good food in your stomach. You'll get more used to it and it will mostly stop.

Seconding the water! I still have some days when I get bloated but instead of it being at every meal, it's now only once or twice a week, and I'm sure that it's certain foods which do it. For example, I have discovered that cashews are a big culprit, and it actually hurts too when I eat them. So no more cashews for me.

I also eat 200g of low fat bio yoghurt most mornings (I make my own - EasiYo is my new best friend!); I don't know if it actually helps or whether it's coincidence that since starting it, I've had very little bloating. Whatever it is, 'tis yummy stuff and I certainly feel virtuous for having it!

I really hope you manage to get to the bottom of it because I do know how miserable it is, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I have this problem too but find more frequent, smaller meals usually helps.
Also it was worse for me whenever I had a meal with lots of carbs like white pasta/rice. I'm not on low carb but I cut the amounts in a meal a little bit and try to have more carbs earlier in the day when I'm going to get some exercise rather than later in the evening.

I'd check intolerances too, when I have bread I bloat but only with that ingredient. If I don't have it I'm fine.

Also try to eat slowly and really chew your food. on Saturday i scoffed my dinner so fast and kept stopping to take huge gulps of water and within an hour i looked like i had a food baby!!

Rice is a culprit of mine. Try and make a list of the things you eat when you get these symptoms and one by one reduce your intake until you find the cause. Then slowly try and re-introduce the foods back into your diet.

    :o)

I use to have the same problem. I tried taking wheat out of my diet and found a huge difference. I did this for a three week span then I reintroduced wheat and the problem came back. I know am eating completely gluten free. The breads/pasta's are very good and there is more variety in the grocery stores know as it is becoming extremely common. Hope this helps.

I get this with dairy a lot. However my belly sticks out all of the time regardless of what I eat, so it's less of a problem!!
  • don't worry about it!

My belly does the same thing! I even joke after I eat and rub my belly and joke around calling it my food baby!

It goes away! it just means your body is full of gooooood food (:
or lower your sodium if it is higher then 2,000!
