My mom always told me to eat oranges! I ate one or drank a glass of orange juice almost every morning last year and I hardly ever got colds. They seem to help when I actually have a cold too. Also, drink LOTS of water to help flush out your system.0

Chicken noodle soup
Something spicy (like hot and sour soup from a chinese restaurant)
Make sure to get lots of rest as well.0 -
Load up on vitamin C, I take 1200 mg of vitamin C twice a day when I have a cold and it knocks it out fast.......I just started this under advisement of my doctor and normally I am sick with colds for a week or two so I love the vitamin C so any foods that are loaded with vitamin C like oranges are great.0

Anything with a decent amount of zince such as sesame seeds, dark chocolate (min 70%) , pumpkin and squash seeds, peanuts and low fat roast beef.
Low levels of zinc can lead to lower immunity but don't over do it. Add these foods to your diet including Vitamin C etc and water0 -
appearently Garlic works! My daughter was recently sick and her friend had her eat a clove of garlic (raw) and the next day she was feeling alot better! LOL0

FLUIDS!!!
Lot's of them to replenish what you are losing through your nose and to flush the germs out of your system. Soup, water, OJ (watch the sugar) and other vitamin C rich drinks and foods if you are feeling hungry.
*Watch out for the comphy carbs, your metabolism will slow a bit if you spend a couple days in bed doing literally nothing but sleeping and changing the channel on the TV so you don't want to eat anything to heavy.0 -
fluids, tomatoes, garlic, cinnamon, lemon, ginger - look up natural antibiotics foods or something on google. my boyfriend is poorly too at the moment so i've been looking things up for him0

I'll second that! Homemade chicken soup (no noodles or rice required), but toss a peeled "thumb" of fresh ginger in the pot to simmer along with the normal veggies... celery, onion, carrot, etc. (don't chop or grate the ginger, because it will be too strong... this way you can scoop it out)!
When you serve the chicken soup, add a little chopped cilantro & green onion, and a squeeze of lime juice to your bowl. You will be pleasantly surprised... and it does help fend off the cold (as well as open your sinuses)... or so says my Vietnamese mother-in-law. I have no reason to doubt her!! Feel Better :flowerforyou:0
