4 lbs in First Week...a fluke?

Hi Everyone,
I am Christina and I am new to MFP but I LOVE it so! I found it as an app on my Android and then quickly learned about this site and all that it has to offer. I am in no way OVER weight but I have put on about 15 pounds over the last 2.5 years and I want to get back to fitting in my old clothes again. So my goal is 16 pounds.
I have a very regimented diet and have portioned out my daily snacks and breakfasts ahead of time. I eat a lean cuisine (under 300 cals for lunch) and a Dinner sized salad with Baby greens, 4 oz Chicken breast, Sweet peppers, tomatoes, garlic and lemon for dinner, I only use 1/2 tbls of EVOO and 2 tbls of Balsamic vinegar as my dressing. It is delicious and I don't mind eating the same thing every night! I drink 8 glasses of water a day as well. No soda or coffee.
My great news is that in 5 days I dropped 4 pounds. My question is: is this a fluke? I feel like in that week I was more detoxing my body and ridding it of the impurities that I was feeding it previously.
What should I expect this week if my plan stays the same?
Thanks for listening,

The first week is almost always a higher number Use it as motivation First week you lose a lot of retained water normally.0

That should be normal. I lost 4 pounds my first week...then 2 pounds...and this week I lost 3 pounds almost 10 pounds in less than 3 weeks! I did much of what you're doing. I gave up all drinks besides water, and stopped processed foods altogether.
I was kinda skeptical too... but I guess I really did lose that weight! I personally think that since you're quitting a lot of bad/sugar-y drinks and only really drinking water... that you're going to lose weight a lot faster (my friend did it that way and so have I).
Keep going! You're doing great0 -
Nope, not a fluke, just water weight0

The same thing happened to me. I think it was a combination of increased water intake as well as paying more attention to what I am putting in my mouth. (I'm no doctor just my opinion!) Good luck to you!0

the same thing happened to me my first week on MFP...I lost 6 lbs....turns out it was water! I basically flushed my system with all the water I was drinking. U will probably level out next weigh in with 1 or maybe even 2 lbs lost. Welcome to MFP BTW!!!! feel free to add me for support!!!!0

Yes loosing 4lbs in the first week is completley normal its because its a shock to your body cutting down on portions, eating healthy and excercising it will slow down soon to about 1-2lbs a week or some weeks you might not even loose any. on my first week of dieting back in january i lost 6lbs then it went down to 4lbs and now its just the odd 1 or 2lbs a week if im lucky. keep up the good work, you will get there:) x0

Probably is some water weight lost. Be careful with the lean cuisine meals, a lot of the freezer meals are full of sodium and some times sugar. They are good for calorie counting because you know exactly what the calories are and they are somewhat low. But, the sodium will make you retain more water. So, you may have seen an even bigger loss if you eat more protein and stay away from salt. Just be careful, I started out like you and then eventually yo-yo diet after yo-yo diet I was 70 pounds overweight. Be sure you keep maintenance work up on your weight after you get to your goal.0
