I am on day 3 of Insanity, and I am a little worried. The workouts are intense, but I am burning a ton less calories (like 200 plus)than I did with P90X (partly this is a function of the time--the workouts are much shorter). I am nervous that I am going to end up gaining weight, rather than losing it. I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. I'm hoping that as my stamina improves and I need to take less breaks, my calorie burn will increase.

As long as you're not eating more than you burn, you should not gain weight. I'm doing Insanity also and I burn anywhere between 200 and 300 calories per workout. It less than what I'm used to, so I balance my diet so that I can continue losing. A change in body composition is whats most important to me tho. I supplement my insanity workouts with strength training and running and eat about 1700 to 1900 cals per day. I'm still losing.0

Linda: Don't worry. I noticed after about 2 weeks of Insanity that my endurance was through the roof! And you will burn those calories, just keep doing it. In the second month is where the workouts get longer, so enjoy it now! lol Keep up the good work!0

You know, I've been doing TurboJam by Chalene Johnston, & I really like it. The videos are pretty intense... 45 minutes of straight cardio, & by the end of the first 15 minutes I'm coated in sweat. Each video burns about 400 calories. But you know what? I **STILL** plateaued for about 3 months.
Your body gets used to stuff... & then you have to change it up. I say keep on with the "Insanity" videos until you plateau, then go back to P90X. If you change it up regularly, you keep your body guessing, & don't get stuck like I did.
I had to start an additional couch-5k program to break mine. Scale hasn't moved in about 90 days... but this week? I lost 3lbs!
I wish you the best of luck, & I hope everything works out!0 -
I'm burning between 300-460 calories in the Insanity workouts (so far). I've supplemented these workouts with time on my elliptical, and my normal yoga routine. I'm used to burning about 750-1000 calories in the morning. I'm hoping, as another poster said, that my "endurance will go through the roof" and I will see an improvement in these numbers.0

I completed day 8 of Insanity this morning. I felt really tired during the workout and can never come close to keeping up with everyone else but I feel that I am progressing. I just wish my legs didn't tire out so quickly. I know I will improve and you will too. Stay focused and don't give up. You can do it!0
