Thought those with thyroid problems would find this interesting.

Article says those with slow thyroid should deduct 200 calories from their daily needs. Anyone else hear of this?

I've not "heard" of it, but it makes sense to me because on of the things that thyroid controls is metabolism. If your thyroid is slow, your metabolism will be slow and you would need fewer calories.

I'm a little unsure of the whole idea though as it ways I need to eat 2300 calories a day to lose weight!
Maybe they're right - eating 1600 - 1800 like MFP says hasn't been working lately! O.K. for all summer. I followed a like though and may check out her thyroid diet book. Couldn't hurt at this point! My body certainly doesn't seem interested in letting go of the weight even though I'm on thyroid medication and my levels are normal now.
