edited September 2024 in Introduce Yourself
You know what? I have been here since January and I never introduced myself.

So here goes on my journey so far...
My name is Kari, I am 22 and I have been trying to be thin all my life. I was never fat I just wasn't toned. I was very athletic as a kid I played Golf throughout my entire life competitively and for fun. But I stopped being active in College. Even when I was thin I thought I had to loose weight, now I have a much better body image and understanding of what goes into your body when you eat certain foods and how your body reacts to them. I love my body now, but I never did before.

But when I graduated from College I started gaining weight; a lot of weight. I gained 30 lbs in 5 months. Yeah, I was working at a restaurant and it wasn't pretty.
I have tried all diets, pills, atkins, starving myself, fitness plans. you name it I tried it.

After 7 months in a hell hole of a service industry job, I got my dream "big girl" job that used my communications degree at the PGA TOUR. I didn't realize how fat I was until I saw the ID badge they issued me on the 2nd week of working there. I knew immediately that something needed to be done.

When i got the badge, I cried. i was so fat, I looked like a line backer. It shocked me into loosing weight.

I got a gym membership, I worked out everyday and I have lost 25 lbs since October 2010. I am 5'8 and am battling with the last 10 but I was 174 and now am currently 148. but I never knew that counting calories would do soooo much. It changed my life. I can now calculate what exactly I put in my body and I love it.

Its funny how one moment can change the way you feel about your body. In that moment I knew it had to be different. I thought I could eat whatever I wanted and be good looking.

I just wanted to express how grateful I am for this site and application. I also truly am blessed to have all my MFP friends on here and all of them are amazing, motivational and strong. This is a lifestyle now and I can't imagine going another day with out MFP!

Not an amazing story but I wanted to share to all of you! :) xD:bigsmile:
