On my walk during lunch out of the blue I was approached by one of these independent “health” vendors on the street and he asked me what I was doing in regards to my weight. I was a little startled because he caught me off guard and was a complete stranger.

I told him I was working out at least 5/week and attempting to eat healthier and it seemed to be working. His response - "Well, let me tell you, YOU are making one BIG mistake. Working out isn’t the answer and it’s a waste of time…let me talk to you about our natural and organic products blah blah blah.” WTH?!!!! How can these people go out into our streets telling others such things. I do believe in taking vitamins/multivitamins and any other medicine my dr. prescribes - aside from that nothing. I just walked away but I am still in awe of how these people can say such things. :grumble:

When I was prego with my son I even had a lady tell me the pills would be good for the baby too because it's all natural. I remember being furious that time. Not cool...

There is a commercial on the radio saying that weight loss on your own isn't possible. I'd love to call, figure out what they are pushing, and give them a piece of my mind, but I'd probably just get some poor receptionist that knows nothing about it.

People insult or inteligence with that bs. I hate those "you don't need to exercise" commercials on TV and radio too. Good for you for walking away. As far as approaching you about your weight, you should have asked what he was doing in regards to his ignorance and stupidity.

There ARE people out here "dying" to hear what he is talking about...all they want is a reason. Exercise is sooo needed for other stuff that keeps one Healthy, other than wt loss. A sales person does not have scruples, all they want is to make the sale!

Wouldn't call his pitch stupid. The people that buy pitch though are not informed or willing to try the easy route. We see it every day on here. Try this cleanse, new diet fad etc. Most people do as you did, walk away. Charlatans such as this guy have existed for centuries. Buy this elixir, buy this tonic and the list goes on. No need to get upset about it, and like mbowman323 "continue with what your doing and I promise you will see results"

you know what you say to the all natural pill people right? I say this:

"Tell me what's in it, and if I like it, I'll go to the store and buy some of the food that it comes from and try it myself." why pay a ton of money for some pill when you can buy the actual food it comes from and eat that and absorb it naturally, the way it was originally intended.

FYI, if someone tells you something like "It's natural, but we concentrated to give you more." That's.....not natural, sorry, that's called being processed. In fact, that's the definition of processing.

Ha! That's laughable. At least you're aware that they were selling a lie, it's sad to think about people who are desperate enough to believe salespeople like that.

In other news, where did you get your profile picture??

I was a professional product promoter for many years, and yeah, you see a lot of dishonesty and straight up stupidity when poelpe are paid on commission. They'll do anything, really. Depending on their personality, you either walk away, or it might be amusing to call them on it.

Exercise is so beneficial for so much more than weightloss. Weightloss is just an added bennie of exercise....OMG- the nerve of that guy! :grumble:
  • Yeahh, even if you "lost weight" from it, it wouldn't make you healthy. The only way to be healthy is to exercise, hence the term being "skinny fat" just because someone is small doesn't mean their healthy. And I have a feeling this "all natural" method is far from it, and probably causes more problems than it solves

Them : Um, no maam , we only meant...
Me: I'm calling my husband right now, he is a ( insert profession.. repo man, bodybuilder, mafia don etc..) And I assure you he will kick your ***. He just got out on probation and is itching for a fight!
Me: Hey, where are you going, come back here, stop running!!!

Working out makes me feel good after finishing. I don't do it just to lose weight. It relieves stress. Pills don't really relieve my stress.

I don't believe in pills as a solution to weight-loss, but exercise isn't the key to losing weight. Exercise is a subset that falls under a superset called Physical Activity. Physical Activity is about 20 percent. Another superset called Diet/Food takes about 80 percent. When looking at the big picture, the one that I can't live without is the one that needs the most attention. Since people need food to live, then that's where the biggest focus should be. If people try to use exercise to compensate for bad eating habits, they'll lose. By only taking in 1200 to 1800 calories, you'll create a calorie deficit, and weight-loss will occur. This deficit can be achieved with exercise if you only take in 2000 calories a day and burn 500 calories at the gym. The problem with using exercise to create a calorie deficit is if you injure yourself, then you'll gain back all the weight.
