I know this seems like a really silly question but what really is strength training? Is yoga considered strength training? I do intermediate to advanced yoga. I also use the biggest loser for kinect and do the challenges and free play exercises customizing a program for my body type and goal...it isn't cardio so then what is it?

Strength training is basically working with weights and resistance. What happens with resistance training is that muscle fibers can increase in size, as well as the strength potential of the muscle fibers (meaning basically that they store more power and endurance). Connective tissue, such as ligaments and tendons, get thicker and therefore stronger. There is also increase in muscle "recruitment," so more muscle fibers are utilized and activated by the nervous system. Resistance training also can decrease central nervous system inhibition, enabling you to generate more power in less time.0
