I have just found this website and am eager to get started tracking my diet and exercise. Hopefully having a place to record it all will help me to be more accountable. I am 36 yrs old and would like to lose at least 30 lbs. I have 2 small children (one 3 yr old and one 7-month old) that I would like to be healthier for and to be a better role model for. Heart disease is significant in my family and my cholesterol has been high (in the 230s) for years, so I would like to create & maintain a healthier lifestyle.

    Welcome
  • I just joined this site 2 weeks ago. I met my goal weight today for the first time in over a year. I workout at the gym like a crazy person; however, I couldn't seem to lose the 3 pounds I put on this year due to me making poor lunch choices with coworkers. Tracking my calories kept me on track. I didn't realize how much I was eating. I thought I work out a lot. Workouts burn calories; however, if your food intake is out of control, you will never see your 6 pack abs.

I am on track now and will recommend site to anyone I see.

I am the 2nd one in from the left.
  • You can do it. I am 38 with 2 small children also. I was able to lose 3 sizes in 6 weeks by doing free weights at home in the morning along with bursts of cardio for 1 min in between.

Free weights are cheap, easy to use and don't require a gym membership. My kids now try to create new exercises for me. Just remember the following:

Do 1 Shoulder exercise, 1 back, 1 chest, 1 bicep and 1 tricep (12 reps-heavy weight-try 8 to lbs to start), then do the same shoulder, back, chest, bicep and tricep exercise 10 times with 8, then do the same set of exercises with 10 lb weights 8 times.

Do 3 different combos every other day for your arms and you will see great results.
The off day do legs/butt/abs. If you want to know anything else, let me know.

3 pounds... I hate you!
  • Hi I just started a program a few days ago. I am interested in how much weight you needed or wanted to lose in the first place. I new it was time to do something when I could no longer fit into my pants! I do not have alot of weight to lose by any means, but if I don't do something now another 5lbs will creep on and then another 10, 20. I'm trying to be proactive.
