French Fries Suck!!!

Let me tell you it completely surprises me to find that I feel this way about a deliciously, greasy, fave food item of mine. I find myself actually thinking now...."that french frie can be the entire down fall of your life" It has become that serious. MFP is changing my life. Sometimes it feels entirely too slow but yet here I am committed to my health for the first time in my entire life. I am exercising and get this I found out I like it. I watch the things that go into my mouth and for the first time in a long time I think about their nutritional value. Hence that's why the french fries sucks! I thought I couldn't live with out them but I am. When I think of a small fry from McDonalds it is no longer with lust in my heart it is with disdain. How could I possibly waste my precious calories on something that is just a moment of bliss. Now..... I need to convince my brain that chocolate cake is the same.... That may be beyond everything though...
Have a great day!

I just went through this with Diet Coke today - and I'm not talking about the debate of sugar versus artifical sweeteners - I actually liked Diet Coke, but today I got one, and all I kept thinking was "This isn't that great, water would taste better."0

That is a great victory in your journey. When we realize that we are eating junk and how much it costs us, especially in calories. Amazing how we can change our minds. Now chocolate, is another story, there are nutritional properties that are good for us. And remember everything in moderation.0

I can truely say for the first time in a lifetime I can say NO to chocolate. I take one look at the amount of calories that are in candy bars and even cookies and its an immediately NO. Like you said, why waste my calories for one bite of pleasure and 60 mins of pain trying to burn it back off. SMH! I don't think so. I have learn that if you eat it in moderation and switch to the no sugar added chocolate instead then that will be better.0

I haven't given up french fries. If I want them I plan my schedule are them. I don't eat McDonald's fries but if I can get real potatoes not coated in preservative cooked in canola oil I eat them. If that fails I make oven fries at home. I also haven't given up chocolate. I'm not gonna waste calories on a snickers, but a nice piece of Lindts or Godiva on occasion, I plan for. Now I don't touch soda diet or otherwise with a 10 ft pole. Soda has no nutritional value and if I'm gonna eat something I want it to both taste good and have some nutritional value.0

Just the smell of McDonalds makes me a little queasy. I haven't eaten fast food (except for Subway) in years. After I kicked my fatty greasy food addiction, anything too greasy turns my stomach now. It sounds like you are turning into me! After awhile you not only won't want it because you know in your mind that it's bad for you, you actually PHYSICALLY won't want it either! Healthy food - I'm lovin' it! :bigsmile:0

I have gone 4 months without a Diet Dr. Pepper. I used to have between 4 and 12 a day. As I sit here, bottle of water next to me, I am amazed. I hate water. Especially tap. But I bought this bottle 3 days ago and I just keep refilling it. From my sink. From the water fountain at work. And I keep drinking it. Because it's what I need. And I'm giving my body what it needs, not what my cravings want.
That being said...when I get down into the 150's...my *kitten* is going to sit down to a plate of loaded bacon cheese fries with a side of ranch. It's going to make me sick. I know it's going to make me sick. But I want to eat it to celebrate (then let the negative consequences help me kick my love for it).0 -

I will scream it from the roof tops... SWEET POTATO FRIES!! Chop em, salt em, throw em in the oven. Look up the nutritional info and you can thank me tomorrow.0 -
I know what you mean about the fries and chocolate. I do eat them sometimes and just account for them in my daily total. I believe everything is fine in moderation. But I have not had a soda, diet or regular in 3 months and I really dont miss it. Took a sip out of my kids cup the other day mistakingly thinking it was mine and I was disgusted. How did I ever like to drink that stuff?0

I LOOOOVE homemade oven baked fries. So tasty, you can season them the way you want, and there's way less calories in them.0

I have gone through the same thing with Mcdonald's in general (my go to place when I thought I had no time and needed a quick meal) but now I don't bother; like you I say, "why use my precious calories on that stuff, it's not worth it". And like you, I need to convince myself when I see anything chocolate; my downfall.0

Do you have a recipe???
I really hope to not crave fries so much one of these days! I miss having my fries!!!!0 -
Fix for fry craving: Slice potato lengthwise into wedges. Toss with a little olive oil to coat. Sprinkle with salt and put on a cookie sheet in the oven on 425. Cook for about 40 minutes, turning twice during cooking.0
