I am in need of traveling food ideas. When I am at work and I pack a lunch I do really well but My new hours are making me need to pack a lunch a snack and a dinner. Anyone got any good foods that work for them when they are on the go.

Home made noodles (75g uncooked weight) in a snap lid box are great for lunch, to which you can add herbs and spices to alter the taste and style) and you can't go wrong with apples for lunch and snacks0

I bring my own lunch and snacks every day now (unless I know in advance if a colleague and I are going out to lunch). I would suggest a portable, insulated lunch bag to use, if you haven't got something like that already. Something small, durable, and light, and with a layer of insulation. I happened to pick one up at a store called Wild Oats (which unfortunately no longer exists) which looks exactly like a brown paper bag, but it's made of nylon and has two velcro seals at the top, so you roll it up and close it securely. It's made by Thermos but I can't seem to find it available online anywhere at the moment (but I did find a picture of it here: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Ur1rSnwaGyM/SBJ5BjdiikI/AAAAAAAAAjc/LKIQdRe9Cio/s1600-h/L52000-Paper+Bag-IH.jpg). Anyway, it's good because I can fit in it what I need for the day, along with one of those ice block things with blue liquid that freezes and keeps everything cool, and I can put it in my laptop backpack or case with ease. I'm sure you can find something similar if ya don't already have something. Now...the food. Contents on any given day vary, but they are always planned in advance. For snacks, I always count out 14 dry roasted almonds, with no salt. Then a small plastic bag of peeled baby carrots. Then maybe a Cutie (small mandarin orange), a banana, or a small to medium sized apple. I also pack about a quarter cup of roasted and unsalted sunflower seeds to round out what I need for snacking for a day. For lunch, it's usually a small plastic container of one cup of pre-cooked brown rice, which I also spike with some Mrs. Dash and red-wine vinegar before I leave the house. (You will need access to a microwave to warm it up.) Sometimes instead of rice I take a small salad which I also pre-add some flax oil and red wine vinegar to before I leave the house. I find that oil and red wine vinegar doesn't get the leaves all soggy if it sits on the salad for a few hours, and it keeps me from having to store salad dressing at my desk. Add a garden burger (again, microwave or toaster oven needed) and a pouch or tin of tuna if you like and you should have enough nourishment for a lunch and a snack for your work day. Bon appetit and happy eating!0
