Hi everyone!! I just wanted to get a really important message out to anyone on a weight loss journey or anyone getting started....In order to be successful at weight loss you need to WANT IT.....you need to retrain your brain, drop the excuses, get a new outlook on life, change your attitude from negative to positive, change your lifestyle from hectic to organized, your outlook on food and mostly you have to put yourself out there and be HONEST with yourself!!!!
I wish everyone to have great success with a weight loss journey, unfortunately I cannot MAKE you do anything nor can I or anyone else get you to understand the importance of you being fully responsible for what you put in your mouth and how you exercise . It is a huge mind game to handle all of this and to retrain your brain but it is worth it!!I am not saying its going to be easy im saying its going to be WORTH IT!!!!
One of the most important points I would also like to make is be sure to fuel your body with nutritious foods and not any worthless and "empty" calories and garbage.... excercise safely and have fun!!
GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!!

great post. I'd like to add that weight loss is not one big fight.... but hundreds of thousands of little ones each and every day. You will try and talk yourself out of exercise, into eating crap, and just taking a "mini break" from weight loss.... the real fight is battling against your inner sabotage and yelling NO! You will want to revert back to your old ways so many times each day, the real battle in weightloss is making the choice to lose, over and over again....0

Very true and well said.
I have found that with my wt loss journey it is 90% mental and 10% working my butt off. The excuses will pop up at every opportunity until you train yourself to just do it and get it over with. The more you exercise the more you get to eat.
I mean think about it - it's every meal and every snack and every drink choice you make all day and night. You have to have the right mind set to DO this thing and stay with it even when you are tempted.
I work out twice a day for anywhere from 30 min - 90 min but that is only small parts of my day. They come and they go. I do this b/c I want to see results and b/c I want to eat!
I have taken A LOT of the advice given out on here to heart and I drink LOTS of water and I have many small meals in a days time to bump up my metabolism. I don't stay up late and graze. I go to bed early and don't eat after 7pm.
Since I have been off sugar for almost 3mos now, my cravings for sugary foods have gone and I feel a lot better too.
I know it is hard but with the right mind-set, the I CAN AND WILL DO THIS attitude, you can achieve all you set out for.
I also recommend setting small goals - they really help me!
I have accomplished one of my short-term goals and am on my way to my 2nd.
If you read posts and look at other members signatures you will see a lot of terrific ideas for some short- term goals and long- term goals. Use the ideas or make your own. Just DO it and stay on top of it and keep whittling away at the pounds.
Oh, and another thing. Don't get so obsessed about weighing every day. I started out weighing every week but found I would keep peeking throughout the week and getting frustrated that I wasn't losing lbs fast enough. Bad!
A very sweet MFPer suggested I don't weigh except for every month and just take my measurements when I wanted to see results. I did this and it really HELPED. By the time my weigh-in came along I was THRILLED and excited to see the big number b/c I had really worked for it all month. Remember that your body is over 70% water and it fluctuates up and down throughout the day and throughout the week so don't look at the number so seriously if you choose to weigh-in daily.
Best of luck and if you find suggestions that work for you then by all means, keep doing them. Stay open to other ideas and suggestions b/c we all hit plateaus here and there along the way.
If you have a bad day and go back to old habits - admit it and then say to yourself "tomorrow is a new day and I will start fresh" and then let it go. Quit hanging on to old habits and negative thoughts. You are deciding to make a new you and so you will have to learn to let the things that hold you back GO.
Keep on ...keepin' on.0 -
