Right guys need some help.
Been on here a few weeks now and find that I keep going over carbs and sugar.
Eg. I’ve done my food diary for today. I’ve been given 1404 for today’s allowance and so far I’ve used 1137. I try to eat healthy by having 5 a day but I’ve gone over my carbs by 10 and over my sugar allowance by 34.
Can someone help me to keep these more level please?

Thanks
BB

After logging for a few monthes I realized that I had the same issues. I was ALWAYS way over my carb and sugar allowance. When I started researching I came across Atkins. Which is a carb controlled way of eating. I actually went and bought the book and read cover to cover. It explains our bodies addiction to carbs and how much our insulin levels affect our weight.
Many argue that its just a fad diet and you will gain all the weight you lose back. This isn't a diet it's a life style change so it's not for everyone. I would do research on it. There are also diets similar to it such as south beach and primal. It is all based on a way to get your body to a state of getting it's energy from the fat we already have instead of from the carbs we eat.

Benefits: more energy, less cravings, faster weighloss, less hungry, less of a need to count calories ( I still do)
Cons: say good bye to most of the stuff you lived off of. Cakes, bread, pasta...(there are low carb substitutes), must make an effort to always plan meals ahead, first week is like going through withdrawal!

But just do you research on it and see whats best for you.

Honestly, it depends on your bodies needs. Personally, I had to reset my ranges on here to a higher carb plan because I'm very active and need the carbs to fuel my activities and workouts. Diabetics, on the other hand would need to limit their carbs. My best recommendation is to look at your individual needs. Are you diabetic? If so, then make sure you are combining your carbs with fats and proteins so they aren't causing spikes in blood sugar. If not, then look at your activity level to see if you might need to up your allowance of carbs to meet a high activity level. If you are just average, check your % of carbs. The recommendation is 45-65% of your daily intake. Basically, you take your grams of carbs and multiply by 4 to get your calories from carbs. Divide calories from carbs by total calories to get percentages. 0.45 - 0.65 = 45-65% or you can multiply by 100 to get the whole number if that is less confusing. MFP sets the number at 55%, so you may be over or under and still be in the right range.
