What's going on with my body??

Hi
Three weeks ago I ate rubbish in large quantities. I also drank wine almost every evening (lots on the weekend!!). I am 15 days into MFP and loving what I am doing. I am eating smaller portions, more fruit, have given up wine (not a problem - gave up smoking a month ago and didn't want to risk being tempted!!) and have been walking every day for half an hour (briskly).
I have lost a couple of pounds early on but am suprised by the limited amount of difference I see both in the mirror and on the scales. Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the new eating and exercise plan but am a bit disappointed things haven't moved a bit more quickly. In the past when I have done WW, the first week usually results in a 7lb drop! So what is going on with me now?? I am 42 and I guess it becomes harder to shift weight the older I get! Could anyone have a look at my food diary to see if I am doing anything drastically wrong? I am not planning to give up but wondered if I need to be doing things a bit differently! Thanks so much.

I'm going to tell you what I just told myself last night - be patient with the process.0

It has only been a couple of weeks, and you've lost a couple of pounds. That's not bad. It takes time to loose weight properly and to make the lifestyle change it takes to keep it off. I can't see what you are eating but if you keep up with your calories, eat well, and be progressive on your exercise you'll see a change that you'll be proud of.
There really is no quick fix. Just be proud that you've chosen to work on it.0 -
You're only 2 weeks in. You should experience ups and downs and I hate to agree but your age will factor in. I know that has been true for me as well (boo hoo)! Remember it's best to lose weight slowly to have a better chance to keep it off. Otherwise, you can lose 7 lbs in a week and gain 3 the next. I'd rather lose 1-2 a week and have no bounce back. Good luck!0

Are you eating alot of "low" fat products? I know I had trouble with those because theres hidden sugars in there and they're loaded with carbs. carbs turn to sugar and sugar turns to fat really easily. maybe something you could look at in your diet...0

I am going through the same thing...And I was about to quit and I just kept going...This morning I lost another 4 pounds which brings my total to 19 pounds
Hang in there..It is a PROCESS not a quick fix, YOU CAN DO IT
Good luck!

When i first started, i actually gained TEN pounds! i was so disappointed! I gave up for a little bit and ate whatever i wanted but then i decided i was gonna buckle down and give it everything and try again, ive lost all those 10 pounds in a week and a half! :] Just keep at it and eventually the pounds will drop off. It takes time for your body to adjust to losing weight. Good luck! :]0

Make sure you are drinking lots of water. And reduce your sodium. Also take measurements. It will help with your motivation when you're going through a slow period.0

Hi
Thanks for this. When you say 'keep up with your calories', do you mean eat what I earn in exercise?0 -
I think I have come to realise why I have struggled to get the weight off this time around. When I was 16 I lost a great deal of weight quite easily. (First diet I had ever done!) It wasn't even a diet. My mum used to buy me a bag of crisps and chocolate everyday after school. All I did was to stop eating those chocolates and crisps. The weight fell off!
The weight all went back on while I was at university. When I finished I followed weight watchers and I managed to lose around a stone and then plateaued. (sp?) I eventually chaged to Slimming world and slowly by slowly I lost most of the weight. A month after meeting my fiance I was 2 pound away from target! I am now a little under 3 stone away (1 stone = 14 pounds)
It has been so much harder losing the weight this time around. But on joining this website I have begun to realise that previously when I have lost weight I did so without exercising. Therefore I lost muscle mass decreasing my metabolism. This time around I am exercising as much as I can and hopefully I am building up my muscles and therefore increasing my metabolism So when the weight comes off this time it will stay off!!! Hope that makes sense?0 -
