Loathe the scales at the Doctor office!

Why is it that all scales at the Doctor add on an extra 10 lbs? I know that clothes and shoes account for some of that weight, but it is frustrating to see such differences in home scales versus those at the doctors!

In also depends on what time of day you go to the doctor. I am about 4 pounds heavier in the evening.0

Set your scale at home 10 pounds heavier then you don't have to worry about it again in the future.0

My husband works for the company that makes those scales...chances are the scale just needs to be calibrated. Clothes will account for some of it, but scales that get a lot of use will need to be re-calibrated more often...and the doctor's office staff probably doesn't care too much about that.0

umm, not to sound snarky, but the doctor's scales are probably more accurate. That being said, it's probably midday to late afternoon when you go, when you've had stuff to eat and drink all day. And your clothes and shoes. And if your scale at home is off, it's quite possible the numbers could be about 10 lbs different. Maybe it's time to get a new scale? My analog scale was always 5 lbs lighter. Sure, I like seeing that lower number, but when I knew it wasn't accurate, it no longer mattered.0

Are u comparing it to your home scale or your last visit?...my suggestion would be to get your last visit details and compare to that ...BUT when logging on or for MFP go by what your home scale says because it will be what you use most...if you have lost weight since your last visit then there will be no worries...u just have to be sure to get those numbers0

2-3 pounds depending on clothes you wear and time of day. Your scale could easily be off by about 5lbs too.0

I just don't allow them to weigh me. I tell them if I suddenly start dropping weight I will let them know (once I hit my goal of course ) they just laugh and we move on into the room...0

I completely agree! When I went to the doctor my weight was 10 pounds more. Which in turn, caused him to talk to me about my "unhealthy BMI" and what I was doing to correct it. It's one thing when you already know you have to do something. It's another when the scale is different from what you've been using and is causing the "the talk"....
End rant here lol0 -
Just remember, it doesn't take away from anything you have accomplished. If you lost weight on your scale, you've lost weight. Your start number was just a bit higher then you thought.0
