I want a GOOD heart rate monitor, but WITHOUT the chest strap. Can anyone recommend one? I jsut bought an OMRON, but the strap is not comfortable! I know there are some that you can wear on your wrist that don't need the chest strap. HELP!!!!
Thanks!

the wrist ones are just not reliable. Sorry to be the debbie downer on that. the chest strap starts out uncomfortable because it is a new feeling. After awhile, you forget you have it on. Especially since you are female - mine goes right under my sports bra strap and I honestly can't tell the difference. Did you have it too tight maybe?0

You will NOT find an accurate/effective HRM without the chest strap. Sorry.
The ones that you wear on your wrist, you have to touch your fingers to the screen to record your heart rate, so it isn't constant reading0 -

I have to agree....sometimes I forget I have it on if I don't get to change clothes right away after running. I've been really happy with mine and I find the bra holds it in place without needing to make the strap too tight.0 -
Sorry hon. ... . . I concur. . . . chest strap is the most accurate. Mine is comfortable. . . I have a Sportline from Walmart. Hope this helps.0

What everyone else said is correct.. there is no real way to get an accurate reading without a chest-strap. Is your chest strap plastic or fabric? I know Polar's are fabric and that may be more comfortable.0

If you are just looking for something to tell you how many calories you are burning everyone is right a chest strap HRM is the best thing. If you able to invest in a bodybugg which is worn on the tricep of the left arm then that many be a better option for you. A bodybugg (or similar equipt) is a bit more expensive but it could more of an investment than just something you buy.
Quick story about the bodybugg....I started this journey in Feb just using MFP and taking my HR for calculations on burn and food intake. I didn't lose a single pound my first month, purchased a bodybugg, and come to find out I was burning on avg 500 more cals per day than what MFP and my est were saying. Moral, if you research the bodybugg and like it, find the money to purchase b/c it will be the best investment you make, it was for me. Everyone is different so pls don't think I am trying to sell you on the bugg, this has just been my experience with it. I will say it has been the BEST investment I have made thus far.
Good luck to you all!!0
