Hello!
My name is Ed, I started using MyFitneessPal on 3/15/2011. I had quit smoking January 25, 2011 and went from 192 to 210 (Im 6ft tall) lbs. My cholesteral has been high for about 4 years now and my doctor was ready to put me on medication! I am only 26!! So i asked for one last shot at lowering it myself. I had to go see a nutritionist because not eating fast food alone wasn't enough to get my choleteral to normal. When the nutritionist seen me she looked confused because its a move program for overwieght people, I however am not obeast, although I had a little belly forming when i quit smoking. I told her the last time my cholesteral was normal I was 185 lbs and would like to get back to that and know what to eat to promote good cholesteral. She told me to count my calories and gave me a diet plan. So with this new plan I could only eat lean meats, cut out cheese, and cut back on carbs. I also needed something to count my calories, and thats what brought me to this. This thing has been nothing short of amazing for me. Without this program I do not know how much progress I would make. Sense 3/15/2011, and today is 5/17/2011 (2 months!) I now weigh......190 lbs. Now, I have started exscersizing more, but that is mainly to promote good cholesteral. I mainly power lift and do some light jogging or bike riding. I would have to imagine if I was not strenght training and bulking up I would weigh at least 180-185 by now. It is ironic because I have gotten bigger (huskier), but am much leaner. I didnt do this with the PX-90 or Nutrasystem, I did this with the foundational tool of this program. because of this I know if I burn 1000 calories at the gym I can reward myself by eating a little extra. Or knowing that I stayed below my calorie intake level all week and as a reward might eat a steak oin Sunday. this program has made it possible for me to watch what I eat without doing a rediculas diet and eating good foods still and still lose weight and reach my goals on my health. This has been crucial for me when i was not able to get to the gym so i could maintain my weight and still lose it. there was a month period where I ws not able to go to the gym and still lost 8 lbs whihc leads me to believe the excersizing is not whats cutting my weight (if anything Im gaining weight from building muscle), it is watching what I eat and how much. This makes it simple, only consume X amount of calories a day, X amount of saturated fat and carbs, and this is how much weight you will lose. Does not get any easier than that for ya. So I would recommend this to anyone, and people who are unsure, let me assure you, If you follow this thing exactly (no cheating or not counting something to ate) you will lose weight in a healthy way at a healthy speed without putting your body into starvation mode in which makes your body store more fat when you eat. But dont take my word for it, look at my page to see my progress, or better yet, try it yourself for a month and you tell me.
