Hello! My name is Heather. I started my weight loss journey at the beginning of 2008, and I shed 43 lb and maintained it for a few years. Starting late last summer, however, I fell off the wagon. I had to do six months of craaaaazy work hours, which meant I was eating only take out, sleeping minimally and had no time to exercise (or do laundry...or socialize...or breathe!) Then, when that was finally over, a series of intense life stresses came my way, and I self-medicated by eating (really wish I had chosen exercise instead!) Surprise, surprise: the weight started to creep back up, and I woke up last month to find myself 15 lb over my maintenance weight. :(

I'm back on the wagon now, planning to lose the weight I gained, plus an extra 10 lb. A friend pointed out this site to me, and I am absolutely in love with it! So excited.

I look forward to meeting you kind folks! :)

Welcome, This site is excellent, it is nice to have a sense of accountability that may not be there otherwise. I know it makes me do that work out instead of skipping it sometimes =)

hopefully this site can help you reach your goals. i've hit a wall and have been stuck on a plateau for what seems like eternity and am trying REALLY hard not to lose focus and give up. seems like i can't shed any weight no matter what i do. luckily i have some great friends to keep me motivated!

do you have any sort of formal eating/exercise plan?

    Thanks, everyone!!

s00sh - Howdy, stranger! :) Plateaus are awful. When I first lost weight I was stuck at one stupid plateau for months. I was ready to beat myself unconscious. I tried varying up my calories, varying my exercise routines, all that, and nothing was budging. Then one day it just started dropping again for absolutely no reason. I hope that happens to you soon!

As for eating/exercise plan, it's basically just calories in < calories out, eating somewhat clean, adding more exercise sessions into the week, weightlifting a bit...nothing too exciting. I'm hoping that since it worked before, it will work again. Fingers crossed! :)

IMO relatively clean eating, calories in < calories out, moving more and incorporating weights is about the most fool-proof plan ever. i've been trying to cut way down on carbs, but i'm having a tough time with fruit now that the weather is getting nicer. i finally decided - screw it, if i cant eat an apple or a banana in an every day eating plan it just isn't worth it! i'm not meant for a Keto style diet.

This Keyto style seems way too disciplined for me. I love fruit but limit it to only 2 a day and small in size. Its a good sugar?carb and our bodies need it. I get only 120 carbs a day and it was hard to begin with but not a problem now. I am struggling with the fats. I love nuts, cheese, beef etc. Being a diabetic I am supposed to eat lean and green but its really hard for me to just eat fish and chicken......love my red meats! Got any suggestions?
