Heart Rate Monitors

Ok so I'm looking to buy a heart rate monitor. I have noticed majority of the ones I have found are over $75. So I was wondering which one(s) do you suggest? I don't want to get one that is a piece of junk. However I don't want to be out hundreds of dollars... I'm new to this so what do you suggest I get? I live in a small town so there is a high chance I would have to buy it online, so the shipping would have to be cheap. I do get free shipping with amazon.com though

Amazon is your best source, and there are several good quality brands under $75, including Polar.

I have this Timex and I LOVE it. In fact I was talking to the guys at my local running shoe store yesterday and they actually only sell Timex. They feel it is better than Polar (AND when you need to change the battery you can do it yourself, you don't have to send it to Polar!) and Timex is a better price point.

I have a polar FT7- I did have a timex but it was really unreliable and the readings were always really high. I had trouble with it from the start. Since I got the polar, I've had no issues. Definitely worth the money! Someone said you had to send polars in to have the batteries replaced but that's not true. The newer models have the ability for you to change your own battery- I can change mine.0
