chickpeas, olive oil and whatever else you would like to add.
I love garlic, roasted red bell peppers and chipotle peppers0 -

I make mine with garbanzo beans (aka chickpeas), a few tbsp of tahini, lemon juice, a bit of olive oil, and minced garlic.
After it's made, you can add anything you'd like, my favorite thing to add is chili paste in the middle... Huy Fong makes good chili paste (same brand that makes Sriracha).0 -
humus? Isn't that from the south end of a northbound cow?0

Actually when you google it, you will have a myriad of recipes at your fingertips. However to find a really good recipe for hummus is not as easy as it sounds, you have to decide if you want it creamy by using labneh or yogurt in your hummus or if you want it lower in fat and not use tahini (which should not be attempted, because tahini makes hummus oh so good.) Also some people use different techniques using a chilled metal bowl while mixing it. So googling is fine, but you may go through a whole lot of recipes before you find one that is acceptable to your palate. It is easy to make hummus, but difficult to make really exceptional hummus. Good luck!0

Here is a video where you can learn all about chickpeas and watch Alton Brown makes hummus. He starts around 10 minutes in on the hummus recipe.

That's exactly how you make basic hummus.
1 can chickpeas
1-2 Tbsp Tahini (start with a little and add to taste. Too much will ruin the flavor)
Juice of 1-2 lemons
1/2 Tbsp garlic (you can throw the cloves in whole since it's all in the food processor anyway)
- Turn the food processor on and drizzle in olive oil a bit at a time until the hummus is smooth. Taste and add more lemon juice/garlic/tahini as needed0 -
I'm middle eastern. this is how you make it.
garbanzo/chick beans canned
tahini - seasame seed paste
olive oil
lemon
garlic
salt
mix these in the food processor .. we estimate the amounts because we already know what its supposed to be like, but i will explain for you. for 1 can of beans, you will need likeee maybe 1/2 cup of tahini and 1/4 cup olive oil, the juice of 1 lemon and dash of salt. 2 garlic cloves . (lemon and salt are according to your preference) I like it sour a little enjoy. and if you want you can make pita chips, just take a pita bread. spray pam on it and put em in the oven on broil .. they will be done in 2-3 minutes keep your eye on them ... then you can dip them with teh hummus0
