Is it bad to eat TOO much protein?

I keep on going over my protein allotment for the day. I don't think I'm eating anything out of the ordinary...egg whites for breakfast, turkey for lunch, etc.

Does eating too much protein keep you from losing weight?

Too much protein can be too hard on your kidneys to break down causing health problems down the line...I'd be careful and try to talk to a registered dietician or nutritionist before coming to any conclusion for your own body.

Just my thought: I think its the distribution of calories that should you should check into. More fruits and vegetables and less concentrated protein sources. Also check to make sure that you're getting the right distribution of vitamins and minerals--hard to do with too much meat and eggs and nuts.

I'm pretty sure the amount that is automatically set on here is a little low. Most likely, even if you are going over every day, it's not a bad thing.

I go over a few grams every day, but it's because I don't like eating a lot of grains. I like getting my carbs in fruit and vegetables.

I suppose if I were more diligent about carbs and grains I would be not hitting the protein limit. But since I'm generally eating chicken or fish, I just don't worry about it too much. After all, I'm drinking lots of water and I'm not eating my "normal" meals of 500-1000 calories OVER my daily needs.

But - a nutritionist & not an Internet friend should be the one you listen to.
