Hello from Minnesota. Its really cold up here. I never start fitness plans in the winter because its so hard to find activities to keep myself energized, but I didn't start this last summer like I swore I would. Last time I went to the doctor she told me with my BMI almost at 30 I was riding the fine line between overweight and obese.

I am cutting calories and upping my exercise. My plans include turbo jam, "Couch-to-5K", and stealing an exercise bike (from a friend who doesn't want it) to plop in front of my tv.

I think my biggest issues are that I am NOT a morning person and I work an early job. I don't think I can get up any earlier, and by the end of the day I am tired and my feet hurt (stand all day at work.) Does it get any easier to find time?

  • Unfortunately, it doesn't. I am also not a morning person, and I really don't feel like working out after work sometimes. To force myself to do it, I eat a small snack for energy, and then I go straight to the gym. I try not to even sit down on the couch, otherwise I'll lose my motivation to go . . .

Speaking of cold -- we're getting walloped with a storm right now. Environment Canada forecasting snowsqualls, winds of 90km and advising everyone to stay off the roads tonight and tomorrow. All this panic over a paltry 30 cm!?!

Yeah, it snows here all the time and yet every winter people react like they've never seen it before - pretty silly.

Hello from Wisconsin! It is cold here too! Snowing as I type this, but the best thing for me is to not sit down after work, and go right for a workout after I finish work....IT DOES GET EASIER!!! I have been at it for 14 weeks now, and my energy has increased daily...hang in there, make yourself do it, and you will start to look forward to your workouts! You will love the motivation from this site too, so keep logging on here...

Snowshoeing! We all have snow so let's snow shoe. It is 543 calories an hour (at 171 lbs) if you do this activity. Here is the website where you can look up whatever you do and you just punch your weight in and the type of exercise you want to do. Yesterday I pushed a fully loaded grocery cart around for an hour but they didn't have that in their database so I got creative and looked under pushing a wheelchair around. lol Good luck to you all.~Karen

I know the feeling. I work 4am-4pm 4 days a week. Extremely hard to exercise after that. Also battling the cold and snow in Wisconsin is not helping any.
