Every time I try to do a sit up or crunch or stomach exercise i can't hold my stomach tight it's hard. I end up strain myself. Is it because I don't have enough strength there or muscle? Any suggestions?

I had the same problem - Found that my core was weak in the beginning but even now find it hard - Think it's the roll I have in my middle...
Also - situps and the like are so controversial because of all the reports of how they damage your back that (yes as a guy) I've been doing core work through a basic Pilates DVD - You know what? I love it - stand taller, better posture and I feel great.
It has also helped with my strength training AND my cardio...
Hope it helps!0 -
I agree with the other post, it simple means your core is weak. Try crunches or try yoga or pilates. Also, maybe do standing ab work outs too. It takes a month or two but you will feel your core strength, thus allowing you to do sit ups the correct way with out straining yourself. :happy:0

Bicycles are a great core exercise that I find easier than cruches.0

For standing abs, check out Hip Hop Abs...I think there are some clips on YouTube (can't check from work, sorry)0
