How do you go on?

After feeling like a failure for losing a weight loss competition..Knowing I still have 50+ pounds to lose....
How did you all who have lost more than 60 pounds find the courage to keep going after a defeat?!
I've only lost about 26 pounds so far and I am so disappointed in myself for losing.

as someone said to me last night - look at what you have achieved - not what you still have to achieve0

There's no "only" in 26 pounds lost! That is FANTASTIC! Our bodies all lose at different paces! Keep up the great work!0

You've ONLY lost 26 pounds? Don't discount your progress!!! Weight loss competitions are all well and good if you're on TV, but you need to change your way of thinking now. This is for your life, your health, and for your daughter. I see in your signature that you have a daughter that will be two years old. You must think that this is not a race or competition, this is for your longevity. So that you will be around for her.
I strongly recommend that you buy a book called 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle. You can find it on Amazon. It will really help you change your way of thinking while on this journey.0 -
The competitor hates losing...but look at how you've won! 26 pounds lost!!! Fabulous! This is a journey to get and stay healthy. That's the win! You can do it!0

Forget the competition. You look to be right on track with the goals you have set for yourself. Don't forget those! You are doing great work! Keep it up!0

My favorite saying, "slow and steady wins the race". This process to losing weight isn't fast; it take time. You have lost 26 lbs that is fantastic. You should be so proud of yourself because we are. I have lost 40 lbs in a span of 7 months, and there has been some very discouraging day (trust me). I just stay focused. Determination and will power will take you far. Keep your head up, you are doing a fantastic job so far.0

I agree with many of the posted responses so far. You have made excellent progress. Remember that you should lose weight at a SAFE rate. That will help keep it off in the long run, from all I've learned.
Don't you FEEL a lot better, physically? Even though you've 'only' lost 26 pounds (like I have!). I, for one, feel a lot more energetic after losing 26 pounds. I've gone off my blood pressure meds. I'm not as tired all of the time. And I have more energy to play with my kids now than I did.
As was mentioned above, try to focus on what you have accomplished, not just on what you've not yet achieved. You're doing great!!!0 -
Girl! You have lost TWENTYSIX POUNDS! That's FRIGGIN AWESOME! Do not give up...You have come so far. Don't focus so much on what you do not have or what you have not done...YET...Focus one what you DO have and what you HAVE done!!! You are doing AWESOME!!! You are an inspiration to others...Allow yourself to be an inspiration ro yourself also! You CAN and WILL WILL WIIIIIIIIIIIILL do it! (((HUGS))))0

The simple answer is you just do!
Pick yourself up, brush yourself off and move on! You are doing great, so what if someone else did better and won.
You might try going through the success stories on the forum here. There are tons of them and many have lost 60, 100, even more pounds. It’s very inspirational and reminds you that it CAN be done.
Sorry you are discouraged by losing the contest, but remember; it’s just a contest, set yourself some reasonable goals and work towards achieving them. You’ve come a long way already and you know you have the tools to get to your goal. You're doing great, just keep it up!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Think about how much CLOSER you are than you were! You want to lose 50 lbs, and you're more than halfway there. That is an amazing accomplishment. You will get there. Keep up the GREAT work, and take out some of that disappointment at the gym!0

This is a lifetime commitment. For many of us, when we start, our main focus is "fat loss", but that is just a short part of the ride if you look at the whole picture. The weight loss will take as long as it takes, but the healthy habits and lifestyle will live on forever.0

Congratulations on the 26 pounds loss. That is a wonderful achievment. I would just forget the competition and move on. What keeps me going (I have been at this for nearly a year now) is the fact that I am not on a "diet" I am doing a lifestyle change. That change has been in the form of portion control. I can have what I want as long as I have the calories for it. I do not deny myself the foods I enjoy. This has worked for me and has made this journey so much easier than saying oh I can have that because I am losing weight etc. If I had not done it this way I wouldn't have made it this far.0
