Do fat people burn more calories during exercise?

I got a hrm, then returned it for one with a chest strap. They measured the same. About 400 calories during 30 day shred and 850 during taebo. I am 5'3" and 181 pounds. But I saw girls who only burn 150 during shred. Can there really be that big of a difference? One more question. Since I am obese, is it ok to burn 1000 calories a day, and only net 1000 or less calories?

if there were packing around extra weight, they'd burn more. :-)0

Yes more weight = more calories burned0

Absolutely. The body has to expend more energy to do the same movement because of the extra weight it's moving.0

It also depends on age and how high you can get your heart rate. I weigh more then you, but on the 30 day shred I burn less than 200 calories. Maybe I am not getting my heart rate up as high as you.0

Yes. At least for running, the basic input to the calories burned calculation is body weight & distance covered.0

Yes, because you are moving more mass every single time you move.
That's also why as you lose weight, you'll see your calorie burn go down if you continue to do the same exercises. So you may need to increase intensity or duration of exercise as you lose weight to see the same burn. (There's also the issue of your body adapting to certain exercises, but the loss of mass makes a difference, too.)0 -
Yep the bigger you are the more calories you burn, hence why it gets harder as you approach your goal.0
