So I have been sick for nearly a week now, and i can't really do any exercise without my cough and sore throat being horrible aggravated. I'm going crazy not exercising at all -- what can I do??

Take the time to rest! Your body needs it while trying to recover from an illness. I had a terrible cough and lack of energy for the last two weeks. I've rested and even gone over calories a few days, but managed to maintain my weight (thought for sure I'd gained).
If you feel like you absolutely have to do something, try a leisurely stroll but don't push yourself too hard, it could make you sicker.
Hope you feel better soon!0 -
Well, back in my track days...whenever I got sick my coach would tell me to take it easy, but to still keep training. I thought he was nuts, but in all actuality, just toning it down a little bit but still working out made me beat my colds faster. I will say though if you are really sick then to take time off. There was a period of time in high school where I was too ill to go to school for almost two weeks, and was on heavy medication. So, let your body rest if you think it needs it or just keep up what you're doing but tone it down. Example: You run/jog for 10 minutes instead of 20 minutes. And remember, FLUIDS! FLUIDS! FLUIDS!0

I hate being sick. Whenever I'm sick, I never feel like doing anything... and that's exactly what I do. Not very productive but resting is not a bad idea.0

I think that sometimes your body is just telling you that it needs time out.
If you feel like you need to be doing something, what about a few reps of crunches or strength exercises that don't put too much stress on your system.
But really, it's probably better to take it easy for a few days, then gradually build up again to your regular exercise program.
And my mum would say "drink plenty!".0 -
Thanks guys! I've been drinking lots and lots of water, and trying to get some juice in there too. I've done a few walks, but so far that's all I've been able to do. I will trying doing some crunches or some light weight training, I should be able to handle that.0

I usually exercise through colds. It seems to big time speed up healing and diminish symptoms.
But yesterday I woke up with one I won't run away from. I'm really dizzy and weak this time, probably from lack of sleep (19 mo/old is pretty sick with it too which is meaning very little sleep for me).
You just go by what you feel. A leisurely walk could help you feel better, keep your routine and relax your mind and body.0
