Ok so i,ve busted my *kitten* off for the past week doing zumba and watching my cals, weighed myself this morning and my scales are saying that i,ve put on weight. (gutted :( ) My cal intake is set to 1200 and although i sometimes went a bit over (not much ) i have been good. I am ready for throwing in the towel. I,ve tried not eating my cals back, then eating them back when i exercise, i can,t win

For me it took 2-3 weeks before I started loosing any real weight. I would stick to it.

You might also want to look at the foods you're eating and see if you can make any improvements.
  • it could be water retention, please dont give up, keep at it, and you may be gaining muscle...when i first started it didnt show right away either, but you could be gaining muscle and losing inches...check your measurements :) keep it up and it the end it will pay off, i promise

Two key factors (though there are also many others) -- water and sodium. Increase your water intake and keep sodium level down. Two great ways to get the scale moving! And most importantly DON'T GIVE UP!

I know the discouragement - I just came off my 3rd plateau in 4 months time and this one last one lasted 3 1/2 weeks. There were times I SO wanted to give up, but with the encouragement of my MFP friends I stuck it out and it is so worth it. I have lost 7 pounds in the last 48 hrs.

If it's really a new workout / intensity level etc you may be having the muscle do what it likes to, inflame for the repairs you're causing it to go through?
You indicated 1200 calories, is that your net or just your consumption for the day? IE do you eat back your exercise calories or not? Food diary is closed so not much else I have to add beyond try zig-zagging the calories (high and low days) or look at your caloric goal...my girlfriend had to boost from the 1200 calories to 1400 calories to start seeing the weight come off.

It took me 2-3 weeks before noticing a difference too - I put it down to my body adjusting itself.

Hi Tracey, Its frustrating i know, my wife put a pound last week which is enexplicable!

I will say that as you get less to lose, its more difficult to shift. It could also just be one of those anomelies which will correct itself next week. The body is a complicated thing which not one of us fully understands. Do yu feel better? YES Do you look great? YES are you excercising? YES are you eating healthily? YES. So its just a number on the scale that youre going to giev it all up for? NO

Keep doing what you are doing and I'll bet theres a correction next week. Add me if you like, Jeff

I know exactly how you feel! I've been at this for three weeks and not seen any results on the scale except a gain :( it's so frustrating!
But I'm trying to look at it from a different point, I am healthier, I am able to do so much more at the gym, and I've lost an inch or so so somethings happening I guess!
What's annoying for me is I'm working my *kitten* off at the gym doing more than I've ever done! Going 4 times a week and cycling in-between and no loss, before when I've dieted even at this weight I've lost weight easily and had result s quickly!

We have to stick with it! If we don't things will go in the wrong direction drastically! And we don't want that!!

    Good luck! x

don't be put off think positive!!

i had this WTH when i got on scales and no weight loss !!
    have you measured yourself???
i lost fat and gain a small amout of muscle but i knowticed a difference round my waist and stomach !!

if i was you i would carry on doing what your doing and DO NOT weigh yourself for 2 weeks its a challenge i know !! and i guarentee you will have lost something!!

also make sure you have accurate digital scales !!

oh and measure your self if you have not allready : )
