I know this is way too much information, but the only other people I can ask is my mum and dad and they;ve both shrugged their shoulders at me!

I am constantly peeing!! I get up about 5 times during the night, a million times during the day.... I'm fed up!!

I just tried to have a nap for an hour coz I keep waking up during the night, and I had to get up 3 times to pee in the space of one hour!!! I'm drinking roughly 8 glasses of water a day, but that's nothing new, I've been doing that for a couple of years now.

I don't have diabetes, I'm not pregnant and never had kids.. what could be causing this and how can i make it stop!!! I seem to be spending my life going and coming from the bathroom!!!

You might have a UTI and you should probably consult with your doctor.

    Urinary Tract Infection?

Not sure, it'd be worth seeing a doctor about it though.

Go to see your doctor. Could be a sympton of a urine infection, which would easily be cleared up with treatment.

Sounds like you need the advice of a physician. Could be any number of things. Best of luck

I agree with the others that this could be a sign of a UTI. Especially if there is any sense of 'urgency' with small volume of urine and/or any pain or burning. You don't want to let a UTI go as that could lead to a kidney infection.

I have had this my whole life too! My doctor told me that I either have a very small bladder or I have an over active bladder. She said i could go to a specialist to make sure, but I never did. Also she said i could go on meds for it. But I still do not want to do this.

Travelling with me is frustrating at times. For I nearly have to dehydrate myself so i won't have to go 1 or 2 hours later. And I still need to stop to go. YIKES

I wish I could be more help, just wanted you to know you are not alone :)

I just want to add that I DON'T have a UTI or anything (never have) I just have to pee a lot and normal amounts and no pain or anything!!!

This could be a few things, you could be drinking alot during the day especially caffine and it makes you pee all night.
It could be a uti also making you have to pee but thinking eventually some burning could be involved.
It also could be diabetes, one of the first signs is very frequent urination as well as being thirsty but when I was diganoised
I was never thirsty just pee'd alot.
Not sure how old you are or if you had kids, but after childbirth sometimes that never stops as some women get a weakened bladder from giving birth.
If it doesnt stop soon like by the end of the weekend or depending on how long its already been going on,
I would suggest it cant hurt to see a Doctor, I would get it checked out, you dont want to fool around with it incase it is diabetes.
    Good Luck.
  • See your GP ... I did and he referred me to the hospital who gave me medication for a short while. Sorted. Now off the medication.::embarassed: :embarassed: :

Any possibility if a UTI needs to get checked out. If left untreated the infection can spread into your kidneys. Hope you feel better:smile:

    I would see a dr.
  • If you are not new to drinking a lot of water it could be a number of things. I can give you some ideas but as I am still a student it’s best to see your GP. Just had a look in my medical textbook though.
    Options:
    Urinary Incontinence (overflow) female
    UTI
    Gonorrhea
    Overactive bladder syndrome
    Bladder stones
    Bladder cancer
    Interstitial cystitis
    Pyelonephritis (kidney Infection)

These can have other symptoms as well. Unless you are drinking more water than usual, cause then it’s normal!

    Good luck. x o x o

if it is not a medical problem, it may just be when you consume your liquids... [and stay away from caffeine!]

I don't like getting up at night to pee.... I have my 16 oz [first 2 glasses] of water before my morning coffee [which is decaf].... I have my next three glasses before lunch, and my next three by four oclock in the afternoon.... then, I may sip some liquid with my dinner, but nothing after that.... solved my problem....

Is there any pain involved? I've had a couple UTIs before and they only get worse without antibiotics. I had to constantly pee, but it was very painful and difficult. No health insurance so I thought I could beat it with cranberry pills. Oh boy was I wrong!

I used to get kidney infections all the time. I never once got cystitus (pain or burning when urinating) with it. For me it was agonising pain in the kidneys that gave it away.

I am twice your age and have had a kid, I get up 1-2 times a night. When I first started dieting I got up more because thats part of how your body excretes the broken down weight.

If you are having no pain then it may be overactive bladder or the timing of your fluids. See a doc to be sure but don't freak out with some of the diseases posted here, it usually is much more simple than that.

I pee like this when I am losing weight - it's a sign that muscle tissue is being broken down and one of the by products is water. If this happens to me a lot I check the protein content in my diet - usually it's on the low side so I try and up it a bit. That seems to deal with the nightly peeing!

When I am not trying to lose I don't get up to go, but when I'm on my target cals I get up once or twice a night.

See the doc anyway, but this is what has happened to me through the course of my weightloss so I've become used to it. Got checked at drs and nothing is wrong.

After getting a clean bill of health from your doc ask about Desmopressin. At least it will help you get a good nights sleep.
It worked for my daughter who used to wet her bed. She used it when she went to sleep overs. After a while she didnt need it any more.
    Good luck.

Thank you all so much for your msgs,

I don't think it is anything serious as I have no pain at all, and I've already had a blood test for diabetes.

But I will deff get an appointment with a Dr to check everything out.

You guys are so much more helpful than my parents!

My dad's response was... well you've always been weird!! lol

    Thanks again

My best friend gets like this and she says her saving grace is cranberry juice - if its not something serious, this would definitely be an option to help.
  • This is WAY more common than you might think, and is something that most of us do NOT have to grin and bear :) The reasons that could be causing this are more numerous that you could mention, and most will be identified and remedied with a quick trip to the Docs :))))
Don't let frequent 'urges' impact your lifestyle any longer, please go see your GP xxx

Stop drinking fluids about 1 or 2 hours before you go to sleep. I know I have to.

    1. Are there any "natural diuretics" (Google them) that you've recently added as a staple to your diet?
    2. Started any new workout routines that beat the heck out of your core?

I don't think I need to explain the diuretic explanation. Core workouts...if you're doing anything to build core muscles, you are aggravating the muscles *right* near the bladder and causing them to swell - in turn giving your bladder less storage room. When I first started doing planks I would notice that the stomach/pelvic muscles would randomly (and painlessly) contract on their own and I doubt that stopped while I slept. Eating foods that make you gassy or constipated can also give you less bladder room. Are you snacking on gassy foods right before bed?

And now I'll cover my *kitten* and say: "Call a doctor because I'm not one." X-)
