Using a mat for Insanity???

I'm just about to start Insanity (still waiting for it to turn up - I live in Australia) and I was told it's best to use a mat to cushion your knees/ankles/back. I had a look on the website and thought they were quite expensive - could I use a 6mm (.25") yoga mat? Would that still have the same affect?
Hope everyone has a good day

Just finished it up and I never used a mat. You're better off investing in good cross training shoes.0

Never needed a mat, just got really comfy shoes with shocks in them....and I have previously torn both of my ACLs0

Ya a mat is not a good idea, just make sure you have good shoes for all the plyo. I suggest nike shox, they are awesome for jump training. Your gonna love to hate insanity! lol. It's killer and totally awesome! Good Luck♥0

Agree with everyone else... good shoes trump a mat for Insanity. I might use a yoga mat next time I do Cardio Recovery though as it's sort of yoga-ish.0

Thanks all - very helpful! Was going to go ahead and buy a mat - good job I didn't!! I'll just go and get a new pair of Nikes instead. That will please the husband!! lol
Have a good day)
