zig zagging calories

This is my vacation week. I don't have school or anything else really important to do. So, I have been spending as much time as possible with family and friends. I still exercised, but I allowed myself to eat up to my maintenance calories all week, instead of my weight loss calorie amount. I didn't gain or lose. Tomorrow, I plan to go back to my weight loss calories, because I was sort of bummed out that I didn't lose any weight this week. Although, I read a few articles online saying that if you change the # of calories you eat on a weekly basis, it can trick your metabolism into staying in high gear and prevent a plateau. Has anyone else tried this? Does that actually work?
