Tricks of the Trade

In my profession I have a TON of lunch meetings, networking events, etc. For instance tonight I have a Business after Hours event that will have lots of catered yummies and tomorrow I have a lunch meeting...with pizza (ugh).

One thing I heard someone say a long time ago was "The first bite tastes the same as the last bite." I have tried keeping this in mind so that if I do get tempted I can just have a nibble or two on something instead of eating everything in sight. I employed this tactic the last week or so when two of my children had birthdays and there was lots and lots of cake, lol.

I am wondering what YOUR tricks of the trade are that you use to help control temptation and cravings. Things you have learned along the way that have really helped you out because trust me, I need all the help I can get!! Thanks!

Eat something before the lunch so you aren't hungry -- that's what I do -- they are not going to be upset if you don't eat it. No one will say anything. Or take the cheese off it that will save you a lot of cals and just have one!

Never deprive yourself - if something is off limits, there's a better likelihood you will think about it and want it more! Make sure you mentally know you can have it, but contiue to try and CHOOSE the healthier option...this puts YOU in control, not the craving or the food!

Make sure you eat a high protein snack when craving strikes (ie. some almonds, greek yogurt, etc.)

    Drink lots of water!

Bring your own lunch - this will save you a lot of unwanted calories, if it's really the lunches that have been adding up!

Good Luck! You can do it! :)
