I freaking love sushi! what are some mfp ideas for creating a healthy sushi meal? (rainbow rolls are my favorite! 500 calories or so for an entire roll)

I think when it comes to sushi, you just have to take it in moderation. One splurge every so often won't kill you're diet.
Of course, the best would be the veggie rolls that aren't tempura fried. I love california roll and "crazy california roll" (calif + mango, YUM). But I also love the rainbow roll, as well as some of the tempura fried ones. If I'm going to pay for sushi, I'm going to **enjoy** it, and then have fewer calories the rest of the day (and probably for a day or two after, as well). But then, I'm naughty and go to an all-you-can-eat sushi bar (but only rarely). You can always treat yourself with just 1 rainbow roll, or even split it and 1 other item with someone else.

A lot of calories probably come from the rice. You can get the sushimi (fish or w/e without the rice) to cut carbs and calories, but it's probably going to cost more, and not be as satisfying.

A sashimi combo rocks and is satisfying.

They make a roll at my place that has no rice, just fresh tuna, asparagus and seaweed salad wrapped in thin cucumber. Its da bomb, really healthy and approximately 150 calories for the entire roll. Look for things like that.

and that's the least healthy kind of sushi.. White rice is not good for you. High GI index and bad Carbs. Bad eats unless consumed after a heavy workout. and i'm not talking about mayo and other stuff they put in rolls that are not good for you.

Now... if we are talking Sashimi... that would be the healthy choice, and my personal favorite. :)

I had sushi today. It's high in calories, there's no avoiding that, but good calories. There's almost no fat and it's all natural.
