to run or not to run for a cause
so last year I ran the disney goofy race and a half challenge for the lazarex foundation which was wonderful...they paid the cost for me as long as i raised at least $1000...the total for the race was $310...
so here is what im thinking, when i ran the races i def didnt do my best but now that i am loosing weight i have added drive to go back and redeem myself. (the disney princess half i ran in 2:25, the disney half a yr later and 20lbs more i ran it in 2:56. the marathon was the first time i ran a marathon so i dont have anything to compare it to but i know that i can run fast than the 5:56)
So i looked at registering for the 2012 disney goofy challenge and the cost is $330 so my question is whether i run for a charity again to help curb the cost. what sucks for me however is that getting the $1000 for the lazarex foundation was like pulling teeth. Im 23 so alot of my friends are just out of college and no jobs so no one wanted to give. the company i work for only has 10 ppl and even though they all said they would help only 1 donated.
it wasnt till i sold shirts that i finally got donations ( i wore 14 shirts during the half each shirt had a different cancer victims name on it and i took 1 off each mile...really hard to run with 14shirts but it was fun)
dont even ask about family....only my mom one cousin and one aunt donated (to put a number on my immediate fam my mom is 1 of 5 each sibling has at least 3 kids 2 have 4 all of which are over the age of 15 and my dad is 1 of 8 all of which had at least 3 kids also over the age of 15 so thats alot of ppl
i just dont want to go through the stress of feeling like im begging people for the money, i know that its a bad time to ask ppl for money but i asked for as little as ppl were willing to give a dollar 5 dollars anything...its pretty annoying as well to have tons of ppl you know say "oh i'll donate for sure" and i would send them the link to the donation website and they would continuously forget.
so should i run for a cause again or bite the bullet and pay the $330 to run?

Do you really want to do this? If your answer is yes, then there's plenty you can do.
--Have a yard/garage sale.
--Have a bake sale.
--Get a loan.
--Cut back on some stuff that you would normally buy that you can do without.
There's plenty more, just few to get you started.0 -
If you feel strongly about helping the cause, then by all means do it. You can go door to door to businesses to solicit funds. Lots of companies big and small love to do this kind of thing. It just means legwork on your part. I think it's great that you can do this. I'm not ready to run for anything yet, but I hope to someday soon.
The only cause I ever ran for was "Cause I didn't want to get arrested"0
