I have drank 12 cups of water today in the past 14 hours. I told my mom I was trying to drink 15 by the time I went to bed and she told me I was going to flood my system. What I found online is that it is possible to drink too much water. Recommended amount is between 8 - 12 cups. It is possible to over water your child and self resulting in water intoxication, but not drinking the water the way I have. Drinking large amounts of water in short periods of time can cause the water intoxication.

I have read about it too, but I have been told that a regular active person should drink half their body weight (lbs) in ounces. Since I weigh 170, that is 85 oz, or about 10.5 cups. However, athletic people should drink about 2/3 of their body weight in ounces, which, in my case, would be 114oz, or about 14 cups. That's what I aim for; I almost always flood my little "cup" icon on here.

There was a healthy 26 year old mom in California that died from water intoxication. The radio station she listens to was giving away a Wii for the person that could drink the most water with out peeing in a certain amount of time. They were given an 8oz cup every 15 minutes. She drank 2 GALLONS in 15 MINUTES and died either the next day or a few days later from flooding her brain and body with too much water. I think once I hit 12 cups I am done with water for the day!
