So I went to my doctor's office today to get some test results, and even though I watch what I've been eating, my sodium levels are still coming back low.
My doctor asked me how much water I drink a day, and I told him usually when I'm at work I drink on average over 2500mL. He told me that because I'm drinking so much that it is the reason why my sodium levels are reading low. I told him about MFP and he said that I shouldn't worry too much about my sodium intake and that I should drink only 8 measuring cups of fluids a day.
Has anyone else ever experienced this issue before? If so what did you do about it? Thanks!

It's possible. I know my grandfather was experiencing dementia-type symptoms because his sodium was too low. It was because my grandmother, who is hypertensive, had cut nearly all salt/sodium out of their diets, figuring if it was good for her it was good for him too. Then he got the flu and the combination had his electrolytes completely out of whack, which presented as dementia.
Listen to your doctor and see how you feel sticking to his recommendations. Might want to drink something like gatorade after a workout instead of plain water, too.0 -

Ya I was thinking that too, only problem is im off of work because of my back, and can't really do a workout except for going for a walk 3 times a day for 20 mins. So I guess after each walk, drink back a glass of gatorade maybe?0
