So, my weight loss has been going pretty well. I have lost almost 80 pounds in 7 months. But for the past week, I have been stuck at 79.6 pounds....fluctuating by 0.3. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I am eating my alloted calories and working out about an hour/day. I realized I was doing similar exercises too much though, so I started changing it up. Can I plateau already??? I have about 100 more pounds to lose. Please help me find a way to kick up the weight loss again! Any ideas. Please share your plateau stories too.....I don't want to feel like the only one. :)

its normal to plateau just keep doing what your doing and it will change it can take 1-3weeks normally and its part of the weight loss process...you could increase excercise intensity or length but it is just part of the process...I learned today from my Dietician that we lose weight similar to stair steps we will always have intervals where we dont lose anything but as long as the scale doesnt go up then your fine....just be patient and keep working at it

Do you have a cheat day with your calories? I have hit a plateau and I worked hard for 6 days and added a day to shock my system back to weight loss mode. Sometimes it just takes time to adjust usually a couple weeks to a month for your body to snap back

    Hey gorgeous!

    Excellent job on your progress!

Calories Zig Zaging helped me get out a 6 week plateau.

    My example: Day 1 3000 Day 2 2500 Day 3 2000 / 3 Days = 2500 average

    Good luck Sexy Momma! Grr!!!

I'm having the same problem so tomorrow I'll eat a higher calorie diet. And I've been on this plateau for nearly two months! Best of luck!!

My plateau lasted three weeks and to get out of it I mixed up my exercise and did one day on and one day off then two days on then two days off then three days on then three days off and repeat. I also ate all my exercise cals on those days instead of just half of them.

The key is to mix it up for a few weeks and you should be fine.

    Good luck!

    Breathe...

A week is not really a plateau. Its just the body randomly doing its random things. You've just been experiencing the grace of the first 40% of weight loss, where there are no problems and everything works like clockwork. I don't know if I would do anything at this point. You're just going to drive yourself crazy for no good reason. My advice would just be to breathe.

But, I will share my plateau experiences.

    1. Change things up. Doing a lot of cardio? Do more weight training. Or vice versa. Change your workouts. Skip a few days of working out. Unplanned rest can work wonders. Its also a quick way to calorie cycle.

    2. Have you been eating the exact number of alloted calories for 7 months? Eat more for a weekend. I don't mean binge on twinkies. Just eat more good food. If you've been eating alot of chicken, go out for a steak. Have a glass of red wine.

    3. You sound really revved up by your week at a plateau, so this advice might not float your boat, but here it is. When I plateaued, I just said, okay body, you're telling me you want a break. So, I would give it a break. And live at my maintenance regime for a week or two. Which, again, doesn't mean binging on twinkies and becoming a couch potato for 2 weeks, but living like I would if I were trying to healthily maintain my weight. Moderate exercise. More calories, but not overboard. So, instead of fighting the plateau, I just enjoyed it. Then in a week or two, I'd go back to plan, and voila, the plateau would be over. I've seen people on MFP try this and that, and weigh, and stress their way through plateaus. And you know? Plateaus just randomly come, and stay for a while...then go. All the angst and strategies don't seem to make much difference. So, I'd rather just enjoy them.
