I have been having trouble getting my heart rate up. My range is from 125-165 I believe. Its been around mid 130's to low140's. I am trying to get it to 160.

I have been doing Turbo jam the last 3 days. I am still getting used to the moves so I was thinking thats why its been low because I wasnt doing the whole workout. But even when I was doing Insanity for 2 months it still wouldnt get high.

One day I worked out around 2pm in the afternoon and it DID get around 160! I was so excited!

I usually workout out at 9pm at night so I am thinking thats the reason its so low because I work 10hrs a day and I am usually very tired when I get off work THEN I still go and workout.

Was thinking if I get up between 5-8am, I will be refreshed from sleep and get my heart rate up. I am not burning much caloires ( Around 260) for 45min workouts and its pissing me off when everyone else is burning over 500!

I am starting Turbo Fire next week and I want to be on track and burn LOTS of calories as this program is intended to!

COMMENTS PLEASE!!!

Try jumping rope- that gets my heart rate up super fast!

Yeah, it's hard to get it up when you're still getting used to the moves. I haven't done Turbo Jam - but with Turbo Fire, if I start punching harder and squatting lower - it'll raise my HR. So try punching harder in Turbo Jam (as I know there are kickboxing moves in it..)

The more movement you do - the higher it will get :)

Your heart might just be in very good shape. My heart rate is always lower than anyone else working out around me. It takes a LOT for me to get mine in the 160s. When I am running it averages in the 140s on a good day. If you can't get it up jump roping like the last person suggested, it might not happen. You are burning more fat in the 130s and 140s than you are in the 160s anyways.

I think you will find that it is harder to elevate your heartrate early in the morning no matter how hard you push it. I kind of doubt this really affects the colorie burn though as long as the body is working at equal effort. This is one of the limitations of basing calorie burn estimates solely from heartrate.

A long as you are in the "zone" you are burning fat. A continuous workout should get it up to your max target - it get's past my target zone with Zumba, for example. The key is the keep the AVERAGE in your target zone :-)

Push harder, jump higher, kick and punch harder and move faster :)
