Hello MFP champs!
I am soooo doing good since I joined and got in touch.
Never felt so empowered and fit !
But Is it only in my head???
Silhouette is looking better: firmer + muscle definition, but on the scale it's either up a few pounds or nothing at all...........:grumble:
I started back in february at Curves gym 3 times/week for 1 month.
Got bored and started kickboxing and cardio, ballet callisthenics, Lotte Berk method ect.. LOVE IT !
The results I can see and feel.
I was always athletic: Swimming competition for 10 years, DiveMaster for 3 years. And a dancer for 15 years.
After my kids I usually did only diets and was used to seeing pounds melt off but this time I want to be in shape for the rest of my life you see, so no more stupid dieting for me!!
I wish I could see some pounds off though.
I am heavy 215 pounds, Height : 5'10. I don't look it even my doctor couldn't believe it, he thought I was 180 !! :noway:
At 180 I am skinnyyyy... And I want to get there!
Any advice???

The scale doesn't know jack *kitten* about your body's composition. Keep working to a healthier, fitter body and eventually things will even out. If you are firming, slenderizing, empowered and healthier, what does that number mean?

LOL
There are more weighs to measure health than weight. Look for other ways to find validation of all the hard work you are putting in ... they are there and keep it up... :drinker:
PS: Pardon the pun.0 -
Youre building muscle! It weighs more then fat, so measure measure measure!0

I hear you! I am 5' 7" and although I am was not as sporty as you, I was always active(marching band etc). I too look skinney(I tell everyone I have skinny shoulders). But I keep all mine in my belly, butt and thighs! And I too have had a hard time losing weight on the scale. People tell me I am looking better, but the scale is being really stubborn in it's praise! At one point last month I was working out 6-7 days a week and the scale would never move!!!!!
I have read some really good articles on here(MFP) about how it takes people of our build a long time to lose weight. We actually only really lose around 1/2 pound a week. So don't get frustrated and lose hope, just be patient and stay the course. Good luck! It will come, it's just a long hard haul!0 -

I agree. The scale doesn't always tell it like it is. When you were at Curves, did you get yourself measured and did you check your body fat %? I recenlty gained some of my weight back, but at Curves I still lost inches and my body fat went down. Sometimes you need to measure rather than get on the scale. Your body may be building muscle right now so you won't see a difference until the muscle kicks in and starts helping you see a difference on the scale.0 -
I'm in the same boat as you, weight doesn't seem to move although there are improvements.
I've looked at you diary and you are consistantly posting reasonable deficits, so I can only conclude that you are building muscle mass.0 -
You guys are the best!!! LOL !! What a pleasure to read you all! !
Consistency is the secret and of course we want to live happily strong forever.
Thanks a lot, I feel motivated to know that I am not some kind of freak's nature !
All this good work feels great.
I can't wait for my muscles to jump in and help along !
Jack *kitten* is well said ! :laugh:0 -

So after the muscle mass building comes the fat loss right ?0 -
Had that same problem this week... I've been on MFP for 4 weeks and have only been tracking my weight with a weekly weigh-in. This week I didn't lose anything even though I stayed on target and tracked well. Started the C25K, so that may have had something to do with it (i.e. muscle building). So I took my measurements for the first time. This way, if I weigh in one week and don't lose I can take my measurements and see how much I've lost there. It should help keep me motivated!

Yes, and the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn technically speaking So youre very much on the right track!
And not a freak of nature I could have sworn I stopped losing (injury and all ugh!) but then the guy Im seeing swrore I lost inches in the week he hadnt seen me (he body builds) and yeah he was so right, I went to put on my fav jeans the next day and yep, way too baggy, and they had even recently gone through the dryer0 -
You are most certainly not alone Atthea! I have had the same problem over the past 5 months. I've been losing inches and can see a difference, but the scale has been my enemy. It was just LAST week that I finally dropped some weight. I think it differs for everyone, but it does sound like you're building up muscle mass first. I know I tend to tone pretty quickly, so I think that I was getting muscle first and now the fat is finally starting to burn.
Keep at it, the laws of physics as we know it dictate that the pounds will follow suit0
