I know...I am with you. I am wondering the same myself. I have been told that they will get lighter over time...but I just want them to go away.

Keep your skin as hydrated as possible. Drink LOTS of water and use LOTS of lotion. And yes...a tan helps too!

Paula Begoun has some really good information on this.

I don't know if you have started losing weight or not but I had awful stretch marks on the area that is known as love handles. They were dark and gross. I have always wondered what I could do to get rid of them. As started to lose weight I noticed them getting lighter. I'm down 30lbs and they are almost gone!

Mine were awful! They are NOT gone, but I've been working out really hard while losing weight and my skin has tightened a lot and they have faded some. You have to be patient with this though, since on women the tummy is usually the last thing to go.

There are stretch mark creams on the market, as well as scar creams. As you continue to lose fat, incorporate strength training in your exercise regimen. Work on tightening your abdominal muscles, and as the fat above your abdominals burns away, the skin will get tighter. As your skin gets tighter, the appearance of your stretch marks will fade.

    Good luck!

I used BioOil a while back and it seemed to work but it was expensive so I had to give it up. I have also tried Udderly Smooth, but you have to use it every day, maybe more than once a day depending on your marks, and stay hydrated for the best results.

They'll get lighter over time to eventually match the tone of the rest of your skin. Tanning does help with the appearance of the stretchmarks. But the texture will still be there. I have noticed as I've lost weight and the skin has tightened on my belly that mine look smaller and thinner. I know they won't completely go away and I am ok with that.

If you can get a dermatologist to prescribe it, Retin-A at the 0.1% strength applied at bedtime over a 12 week period works pretty well at reducing them, nothing even the fraxel laser, gets rid of them completely. But I used the Retin-A and it faded them nicely, and they were deep, barely noticeable now, you really have to look for them. Also after the treatment use Vitamin E oil 12,000 I.U. before bed.

They still show up even if you tan. They are discolored from the rest of your skin. I'm thinking surgery will be my only option. I don't have a lot but I have an area on my belly that I would love to disappear! I've tried creams, lotions, exfoliating, etc.... still there. Maybe a small area wouldn't be as costly to fix in surgery as a big area.....will have to check it out. I also have the saggy baggy skin from the weight loss and it doesn't look like it plans on leaving either! I blame it on kidlet number 4. I don't remember having them before that. Kidlet 5 just made it a bigger area.

Nope. Doesn't work, they don't tan the same color.

At my highest weight I was 247lbs, so quite big for 5' 7"... Also I've had three kids 8, 9 and 10.5 pounders! Big babies. my belly is a disaster, but mind you the rest of my body got quite stretched out too. I'm down 90lbs now and my stretchmarks on my arms and legs are shrunk down a lot, as for my belly, I have a TON of extra skin, and no amount of water or creams or tanning has done anything for it. Have you ever see Kate Gosselins belly "pre tummy tuck?" That's what mine looks like :( so sad... so very sad. lol But I'm sure yours will tighten up with loss :) All of the tips here are wonderful <3 best wishes!

I've read tanning won't work since they are that silver color and they don't tan. Fake tan products are supposed to help though. Time will help. Mine don't really bother me anymore, they are a fact of life for women!
