Beauty INSIDE the body

I encourage everyone to focus on how beautiful the INSIDE of your body begins and continues to look over your life when you work on a healthy lifestyle of excellent nutrition, exercise, and sleep.
Yesterday at work we had a voluntary health screening. I saw very positive results in my numbers for how the INSIDE of my body looks after less than 3 months of conscious effort to eat more healthily. This means that I have reduced my risk of nasty, chronic diseases such as diabetes, stroke, cardiovascular disease, cancer, etc. I am thrilled. It's like buying a really good life insurance policy for a greatly increased chance of a healthy and HIGH QUALITY life for me and my family now and into my old age.
First let me say my goal was to lose only 10 to 15 pounds max. Let me also say I am a long distance runner and was already exercising about 4 to 5 days a week and was already in good shape. But what concerned me was the slow weight creep in my 50s and the slow trend towards boarderline blood numbers (cholesterol and blood sugar.)
So, I started using My Fitnsss Pal to be honest with myself about what I was eating and drinking. I greatly reduced my night snacking. I cut back (did not eliminate) my wine and beer consumption. I stepped up the fruits and veggies a bit . I watched portion size in a more honest fashion. I walked the dog more. I stayed on track exercising. That's it. No crazy diet. My numbers are now great!
• Weight - I lost about 8 pounds in about 10 weeks.
• TL cholesterol = 180 yesterday after 3 months of change, but it was 222 just 6 months ago (100 to 199 is NL)
• HDL = 89 (very good number, women to be at or above 50 )
• Glucose with fasting is 84, but it was boardline at just over 100 just 6 months ago. (NL is 50 to 99)
QUALITY OF LIFE IS WHERE IT IS AT! HOW YOUR INSIDES LOOK HIGHLY REFLECTS HOW YOUR OUTSIDE LOOKS, FEELS AND MOVES. While some folks cannot help their physical and medical conditions, most folks can choose to not be the guy who has so much trouble moving around at age 60 or 70. I want to be the active, spry old lady still running when I am 80. It starts NOW. What quality of life do you want to have next week? Next month? Next decade? Go for it!
