Question about veggies & salad

Hi everyone This is my first week using MFP and I think it's great.
My question is about snacking on, and filling small meals up with veggies to make them more satisfying I (for instance on Weight Watchers undressed fresh veggies are (mostly) a free-bee and don't count toward your daily points). Should my raw veggies be part of my food diary or is it okay to omit that?
Just curious- and thanks in advance

I try and put mine in just to get the nutritional value in the reports. They are SO low in calories though. If I was only looking at the calorie intake, I wouldn't bother. I mean at the most, it's what like 15 calories or something around there. It's up to you, as it depends on how strict you want to be with your calories.0

The salad that I had with my lunch clocked in at 50 calories for 2.5 cups- that was before the light dressing---I ate at 12:30 and I was so hungry by 2pm that I had a bag of soy crisps and a ton of water...0

Some veggies are much higher in calories than others (peas and corn, namely).
Salad never kept me full enough to do any good. I like steamed broccoli, green beans, and corn (corn on days when I have lots of room in my calorie limit to fill up).0 -
I would include them just because of their nutrients.0

I'd put them in. They are almost, but not quite, freebies. They do have a small amount of calories, most have no fat, and are loaded with nutrition (which is why they are 0 points for WW). It is possible to go over calories on eating nothing but veggies - that would take a LOT of veggies!! - but also you want to know where your really are on your count so that you can get close to your goal.
Besides, doesn't it make you feel good to look at your food log and see how well you've eaten? And to have your friends see it too!0 -

Please tell me ate more than just the salad for lunch because 50 calories not enough for anyone on any diet for lunch.
Yes, you should definitely count them. As mentioned by others they may not be that many calories but they account for a good percentage of your nutrients for the day. For instance if you want to track your fiber you would be missing the bulk of it if didn't record your vegetables. Not mention it is a good way to keep track of which vegetables you have been eating so you can keep it mixing it up not just eating same things every day.0 -
i always count mine because i pile them so that i can be full!0

I log them. Try adding some protein to that salad hun! Like a tuna steak, chicken strips, or some steak...I watch my carb intake and I can tell you from personal experience that I may eat more grams of fat...but I am rarely hungry, and still have managed to lose 34 lbs. Good Luck hun!0

Always add in my veggies - they do add up if you're eating a lot of them! But so worth it, right??0

On MFP include everything0

I lost a lot of weight on Weight Watchers and think it's a great program. MFP is a different program, though, and I'm pretty sure the website doesn't mention any calories not "counting." Obviously, if it works for you not to log your veggies, then don't, but don't kid yourself into thinking that the four carrots you ate over the course of the day make no difference to your total calories consumed. Whatever you do, good luck!

I can easily eat 200 cals in veg in a day. They are worth counting so you dont go past your limit. Even 100 cals over per day could sabotage your weight loss.
And as the lady says, some veg are more calorific than others :flowerforyou:0
