Ground turkey - a complete turkey!!

I just logged in my dinner - what I thought was going to be a lovely, healthy dinner. I got ground turkey for a nice burger, cooked without any fat. When I typed it in and saw that 4 oz. is 17 grams of fat, I thought it must be wrong. Then I got the package and looked, and it's right! I'm so disgusted - that I didn't think to look at the package, and that I wasted my $ on something that is totally not healthy! I could have had a steak for less fat grams! I really have been doing so well with label reading, but lesson learned - read ALL the labels! Happy Friday night y'all!

I love and live on ground turkey. Ground turkey is much like ground beef. You can get it with differenct degrees of fat. Do not give up on ground turkey.

I too thought it would be healthier to substitute turkey and chicken instead of beef in some recipes, but when you have a nice lean cut of beef, it is about the same or less!!! Lesson learned to both of us:)

Fat doesn't make you fat, it helps you absorb vital minerals and vitamins. Unused calories and carbohydrates make you fat. Just so ya know

Thank you, Sherbog - guess all ground turkey is not created the same!

Carajo - I typically use ground sirloin which is really not bad at all. It's just watching the portion that matters the most!

Allisoncook87 - Thanks! I have to watch my fat intake carefully because I'm using Alli and 17gm is too much for me for just one item. That's a little more than I like to have for a whole meal.

A lot of ground turkey adds fat to make people think it tastes good. Of course it does, you crammed more fat in there. *sigh*
