Since it's summer...

Since it's summer, I've decided to save some money and start a mini-garden on my apartment deck! Since I need so many greens, I am excited to have them fresh at my finger tips! What I have is a herb garden (oregano, sage, mint, thyme and chives), general care lettuce, red leaf lettuce and red bell peppers. All of these I can bring in during the winter and they will just keep giving me fresh fruit :)

Here are some pictures and I would LOVE to know what you are doing with your garden or what you are doing to keep your healthy fruit and veggie bill down?

Okay I quit trying to upload those pictures. I can not figure it out right now

Michelle, that is SO exciting. I was considering tomatoes, but they are hard to keep. If you want to try something basic, herbs and lettuce are very simple :)

I joined a Community Support Agriculture group (CSA) this year so I would have fresh vegetables spring through fall. I did not quite have my act together to do a garden this year. This is the next best thing. I get shares each week of different kinds of vegetables it also includes fresh homemade bread and jellies plus other goodies from time to time.

That's really neat! I've been considering selling bread at a farmers market to bring in a bit more cash. Any thoughts on that? It'll have no preservatives and many different flavors!

Have a few more plants to add!

Got a topsy turvy, so now we're growing tomatoes as well as strawberries, green onion and peas :)

So excited for the time when they mature.
