I'm usually not this stupid, but I can't figure it out for nothing. I've read everything I can find and I can't find an explanation for that number. I'm sure it is perfectly obvious...as soon as someone tells me. hee
My name is Lori, and I have around 50 pounds to lose. I won't be on a diet. I am trying to make healthy choices and rebuild a healthy lifestyle after years and years of severe fad dieting. I'm paying the price now with a sluggish metabolism and 20 pounds more than I have ever weighed before. I will be a slow loser. I mainly joined this site to log my food diary, but confess to being interested in all it has to offer me.

Basically, you want your diary to be at '0' remaining at the end of the day, and you want your Net (on home page) to be at least 1200, and ideally to match your initial daily goal.

Haha, don't worry, it's a common question because MFP is designed to be different from most counters/plans.
