NSV - School sports day

OK, so last year I ran in the dad's race at school sports day, and came fourth.
This wasn't too bad, as it was probably the first time I'd run in 10 years or so, but when I saw a photo of me during the race, with my belly flopping out over my trousers, I thought, hmm, perhaps it's time to do something about this. I was going to win it next year, and be in fine physical shape as well.
Christmas came, and I'd lost a whole pound, I think. I'd been out running a couple of times, but due to cracking a couple of ribs in an injury I'm not likely to share with you, I'd not really put that much effort in.

At New Year, the wife and I decided to make a concerted effort into losing the weight this year, which has gone well so far.

But it was sports day Wednesday just gone. The moment of truth had arrived.

Now I didn't win, which was absolutely gutting, because the winner got a bottle of wine, but I did come second by a whisker. It was pretty much the same field as last year, and the same guy won. Now whether I've got fitter, or the spread has effected the others more than it has me, who knows!

Anyway, here's a photo from each year, as a compare.
Sorry the first one is a bit blurry, but I didn't really want to pay out £15 for a photo, so I sneakily took it with my phone...
And look how serious I am in the second photo... I REALLY wanted to win!

That's AWESOME! That's so so epic that you snuck the picture too haha! Happened to me when I was at a ski resort they had taken some amazing photos of myself snowboarding but they were $25 a pop.... completely not worth it. You really can tell the different between the two photos! Keep up the good work.

think this is great - what you must take away from this is that you have lost 18lbs and moved up 2 places in the pecking order from 4th to 2nd and only missed out on the winners wine by a whisker! I'll lay money on you on you winning next year!!
