so I just graduated from the compact digital camera that I have had for a couple of years and Just bought a digital SLR ( single lens reflex ) ? I purchased the Sony A33 which is a new camera for Sony, and I just ordered a Sony 75-300mm telephoto zoom lens for it. really excited to find out everything I can about this camera before my vacation the middle of June to Yellowstone national park. so you seasoned photographers out there any hints on good web sites or resources to expand my limited knowledge of digital photography ?? also what about photo editing software ? I also did purchase a tripod and a flash unit with remote and a contrast filter so anything else you guys would suggest would be much appreciated !!

gimp is a good free photo editor.

i recommend just testing things out w it out in the backyard... make notes if u need to... learn what different things do w ur new cam & have fun w it.

Hi there!

There are a lot of really good resources for you on some of the flickr discussion forums (http://www.flickr.com/groups/) as well as Photography on the Net forums (http://photography-on-the.net/) POTN is directed at Canon shooters, but the priciples of good imaging apply across brands.

You'll want to maybe pick up some books on exposure and composition as well. Here are my recommendations:

The other big thing is to make sure you understand your camera. Read the manual and take your time learning it.
