I love cheese! Yes, I am from WI but even if I wasn't I would still love cheese!
So today I bought some cheese curds, not the deep fried breaded ones, just all natural cheese curds, I am so SHOCKED:noway: at how much fat is in them, I had two servings (1/2 cup 220 cals) and the fat content...well, lets just say I am over 100 over my aloted fat, grrrrr!
So I am doing great on the cals, but HOLY HANNA, did I go over on the fat, is there an alternative to cheese??? Please, someone has to know....is there an alternative??? HELP!

I adore cheese, too. For me, cheese strings help and they're about 5g of fat each. I also buy half-fat cheese, which means I can still have an ounce for 5g of fat. I grate it extra fine so it looks like a HUGE serving.
I'm pretty convinced I could live on cheese alone (with cheesecake for dessert!). It's the one thing I'm going to have a really hard time giving up as my calorie allocation goes down as I lose weight.0 -
Galaxy Rice Cheese is really good...it's made from rice milk instead of dairy milk so it's super low in fat but does all the same stuff that regular cheese does...melts, shreds, etc.
BTW, I live in WI too!!!0 -
Im from Wisconsin too ... and years I have always said that all food is better with cheese on it.
I have just realized that cheese is going to be part of my diet .....
I do low LF string cheese though ... Crystal Farms is the best!

Nothing is a substitute for cheese curds or really good cheese.
HOWEVER, I treat them as "treat" food and stick with Babybel and laughing cow for everyday use. Both are somewhat expensive -but I also love cheese so I spend the money on them for a good cheese with fewer fat and calorie grams.0 -
I love cheese. I opt for low fat or fat free cheeses now. Not from WI, but I am a fellow cheesehead originating from MS!!!
GO PACKERS!!! (can't wait for season!)0 -
I love cheese but hate the fat and calories I portion out my cheese before I sit down to eat it because it is way too easy for me to throw portion control out of the window when it comes to cheese!0

I go for Feta. And I usually have a chunk with a big helping of cucumber. I don't feel deprived but also don't overdo it.
I'm a good Wisconsin Girl. I loves my cheese. And beer. Which is what got me to my top weight in the first place.
Now I just try to be more sensible.0 -
I am not giving up cheese. It is good for me. I just only eat one serving, and usually just one serving a day. I was eating the laughing cow cheese wedges, but have decided I would rather have real food. If I want something creamy for my crackers I will just mix cream cheese with whatever flavor I feel like putting into it. I know it will have more calories, but it won't be overly processed.
I don't worry about going over on my fat as long as it is not from junk food, or excess eating.0
