hm... BFFM ("Best Friend Fat Management" was the first thing that came to mind with that acronym btw) aside, if you want to change your goals, go to "My Home", then "Goals". You can change your goals from there, including carb/prot/fat proportions.
The first thing I did was change the setup so that I have six "meals" per day, labelled breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, evening snack. Easy-peasy. It pretty much makes you eat every 3 hours or so anyway.
I played around with the carb/fat/protein ratios and in the end found that the MFP ratio works best for me. I'm usually under on fat and over on protein, but there's a lot of discussion on these boards about the protein numbers being set too low anyway, so this is fine by me.
My first meal of the day has no meat in it. I have a skim milk latte to go with my oatmeal. During the day is pretty much all fruit and vegetables and that works fine. At night I have some form of protein (usually fish) with some form of veg/carbs but I get low fat cookies and cheese for an evening snack. I even found a low fat frozen yogurt that's very tasty, so I don't suffer for treats.
I'm not hungry throughout the day and the weight's been coming off like it should (other than TOM time and accidental sodium overload), and I agree it's slower now I'm close to my goal, but that's ok too. It gives my body a chance to normalize.
Now that I a'm so close to my goal, I've upped my calories by 100 per day and that makes life a lot easier, and you can do that under Goals too. That's so I can transition slowly to a maintenance level of food intake and figure out exactly where weight loss stops for me.0 -
Hi Lmr9 -- 34% sounds way too high! Especially since you're so close to your goal weight. From what I've seen, the body fat scales can be pretty inaccurate. I have a Tanita scale that measures body fat, and the readings does show the body fat trend over time pretty well, but the body fat readings can vary a lot from day to day even though I always weigh myself first thing in the morning so that my hydration level should be pretty similar each time. After I reach my goal weight, I was thinking of getting a DXA scan ( http://www.bodycompositioncenter.com/why.html ) done so that I could get an accurate body fat measurement, just for informational purposes. Are you planning to get an accurate body fat measurement when you reach your goal weight?
Hey - just wanted to let you know that I went and got a DEXA Body Composition scan 2 weeks ago, and my body fat was 27%! Which puts me in the "Fit" category - they rank on a scale of Very Lean, Fit, Overweight, and High - and I'm Fit!
I'm hoping that I'll be at my goal weight in ~6 months. When I get there, I'm going to get a DEXA scan too.0 -

Thanks!! You can do it - you will be there before you know it! :flowerforyou:0 -
I have had the BFFM book since January of this year. I pulled it out again and just started it on yesterday. I had the best weight training workout last night. My trainer was blown away. I had so much energy that I spent 12 mins warming up on the treadmill at the gym before I even saw my trainer at the studio. I love it. I have no hunger right now, and I still have 2 meals remaining. Great crazing-buster!
Thanks for starting the post.0
