I think better because of the extra minerals and less starch? I could totally be making that up. Oh man, though - cut one up, shake in about a TBSP of olive oil and bake, soooooo delicious! I never made them until my daughter came along (they were recommended as a good first food) and I'm addicted.

I tried the Ore Ida ones, and thought they were horrible. They just dried up. When I compared the nutrition facts for the sweet potato fries vs the regular fries the only thing I noticed was the sweet potatoes had more vitamin A and more calories. Personally, I will stick with the regular fries if I HAVE to have fries.

I don't view it as "having" to have them. I wanted them, I had the calories to spare, so I'm eating them. And enjoying it.

I like sweet potato fries more than regular fries. They may have a small difference in calories and minerals I believe.

That's what I was thinking! They're yummy too!

Also, I don't fry anything, I bake, grill, boil, or broil it :-)

I like to dice them, toss them in a bit of light olive oil and add some chopped onion, and bake them and make a sweet potato hash.

Sweet potatoes have more soluble fiber and the carbs have a lower glycemic index. The truth potatoes get a bad rap. As long you are eating either with skins, baked and not deep fried you getting some good eats. The problem is a lot of people deep fry all the taste and good stuff.

I grill my potatoes. It satisfies my potato fix without the deep fryer.

neither are bad for you. they both have their different nutrients. the only thing is white potatos are a lot more starchy and are higher on the glycemic index.

its all about what you drown them in...you can make homemade french fries just bake them..you can make a baked potato, just use low fat butter/sour cream and use sparingly..same for sweet taters

of course if you buy the processed crap, your getting crap. if you want fries or taters whatever make them yourselves..sweet potatos by volume have just a tiny bit less calories than white. but both have their pluses and minuses as far as nutrients go.

As far as nutritional content, I figure they're about the same. For both white potatoes and sweet potatoes, just about all nutrients will be leeched out when they are deep fried.

On the other hand, I absolutely love the taste of sweet potato fries and will take them over regular whenever I have the choice.

Now, for a good, healthy treat, make your own! Slice up the potato or sweet potato, spritz with a bit of olive oil, and bake (don't fry) till just right (I have no idea how long or anything, haven't done this in soooooo long, I'd have to look it up). Keep the skins on white potatoes for even more nutrition. Either way, it's much less fat and the nutrients stay put. And they still taste great.

Sweet Potatos may be a little healthier, but make your own or at least buy frozen ones with no hydrogenated oil. This article is interesting. --> http://www.fitsugar.com/Sweet-Potato-Fries-Healthy-230684

Sweet potatoes are better than regular potatoes, BUT the dangerous for your health part of french fries has never been the potato. If you take the world's most nutritious food, and then fry it in oil, and salt it, it becomes a junk food.

I love sweet potatoes but I do not like them as fries.
Actually, I don't really love fries either.

If there is still nutrition in the food, I don't consider it just "junk food." (reply to previous poster)
